Dan's P.O.V

I was running.

Running through a thick, never-ending darkness, searching for something, but what?

What was I looking for again?

"Dan! Help!" I heard Phil's terrified screams slicing through the silence.

"Phil? Phil, where are you?" I responded, most likely sounding just as scared.

"Dan!" He screamed again, somehow sounding even more distraught than before.

I tried to run faster, but my legs wouldn't let me.

"Phil!" I continued to cry as his screams stopped and were replaced with a heart-wrenching sob.

"I'm coming." I yelled once again, trying to reassure him that I was on my way, but soon his cries stopped and the silence returned.

"Phil?" I questioned in shock. "Phil? What's the matter?" I asked quieter than my last shouts.

Not long after the darkness began to evaporate and soon after, it was clear. I took a couple steps further and I froze.

He lay there, limp and lifeless. I rushed over and flipped him on his back. His blood was still pouring from his countless wounds and his pulse was gone.

"Phil!" I screamed at the top of my voice, tears streaming down my face and his blood coating my hands.

~ End of dream~

I shot up, awake, letting all that had just happened sink in.

"It wasn't real." I told myself, trying to get rid of the fear and sadness filling me. It didn't seem to work.

"Dan!" Chris burst in loudly. "Are you okay? What happened?" He continued at the same volume in a concerned manner.

"I'm fine; it was just a dream." I replied and gave him a small, unconvincing smile.

"Okay, I'll see you downstairs." He responded, understanding that I didn't want to speak about it just yet.

I soon got up and dressed, straightened my hair, brushed my teeth and headed down to see Chris preparing breakfast for the both of us. I started to help him out as we worked in silence, making cereal and toast. Once everything was completed we both sat and ate quietly, still not saying a word to each other.

When we finished and we were cleaning up, the quiet became too much for Chris and he broke.

"What's the matter, Dan? You've not acted like yourself all morning." He said, seemingly relieved to have finally said it.

"Nothing, I'm fine." I said once again with the same failed smile.

"No, you're not. Let's sit down once we're finished." He said before we headed over to the couch a couple of minutes later.

"So what's up?" He began.

"I'm just stressed and freaking out over everything that has been happening. I know I'm not the only one but I'm really worried about Phil." I said, letting some of my emotions out into the open.

"I know what you mean. I'm really worried about him too. When Phil finally opened up to me about everything that had happened I had practically begged him to show me his scars, just to make myself understand and let it sink in. The idea of him gaining more every passing minute is sickening." He agreed, voicing out more of my fears.

"It's not just that, but with all he has already gone through I don't know if he'll make it." I said, almost in tears with my own words.

"He's strong; he'll be okay. I know we're going to find him in time." Chris tried to reassure me, but it didn't work very well.
