Another Thursday, another weeksary. Just 2 more and we celebrate one full year of this phenomenon. I can hardly believe that I survived the year. When I auditioned, I wasn't prepared like all the other people who were there. I didn't know what to do. I was asked if I could sing, dance or act; and like all of you now know, I said I didn't. My only "claim to fame" was my dubsmash videos. I was a happy camper when I found out the number of views it garnered in short amount of time. I didn't think that it would be my ticket to what I have today. I had dreamed of being seen on tv but didn't know how I'd get here.
Anyway, we started the 'celebration' for this weeksary at Broadway. It's been a "thing" that I'd be at the studios for the weeksaries or at least Rj and I would be together for Kalyeserye, where it all started. We're also promoting our movie so I was whisked to the studios after Sugod Bahay. As a gift to the Dabarkads and Aldub Nation, we're singing the theme song I wrote in Italian. Well, not entirely in Italian but the chorus part. The translations are a bit wordy so Rj and I need to run over the lyrics some more. Thank god we were able to record the song several evenings ago.
Rj covered my eyes as we walked up the remaining steps of the Artists' Entrance of the backstage. He said he was getting tickled by my eyelashes. Hahaha! Yep! They're real, Babe! Anyway, we walk and it seemed like a very long walk. As we neared the spot where he wanted me to stand, I felt something brush against my feet. I like walking around barefooted but hate getting mud on my feet. I know my feet get dirty when I walk barefoot but mud feels eeew! So I was thankful that I was wearing sneakers.
It took a while before Rj told me to open my eyes after removing his hand which he used to cover them with. I was already feeling all weirded out by the "things" brushing against my feet and ankles. When I got to open my eyes, I almost died when I saw that the floor was covered in BALLOONS!!
Oh! I'm fine with balloons as decorations and floating upwards, not just spread on the floor like they were in the area. So, while we were doing our spiel, I tried kicking some away so that I could see the floor.
When I was a kid, we had balloons from Colleen's birthday party and a lot of them where on the floor. Like any toddler, I was curious of them. But when one of the balloons I was reaching for popped in my hands, I freaked out. One of my boy cousins was running away from our other cousins as they were playing some game. He accidentally stepped on the balloon I was reaching for on the floor and it popped, really loud. From then on, I disliked popping balloons!
My family and friends found this weird at first but knew that I'd always scream and freak out when balloons pop. I think I told Rj about this "fun fact" about me. Anyway, Rj went ahead and popped a balloon with his feet. I screamed and hit him repeatedly for pulling such a stunt. It took all my might not to majorly freak out on national tv.
"Sorry!" he said when he saw how genuinely annoyed I was with his stunt. "Akala ko joke mo lang yun na takot ka sa balloons...."
"Ayoko ng balloons!"
"Sorry na! Sorry!!" he kept on apologizing. "Next time, sabihan natin yung staff na ayaw mo ng lobo!"
"Promise?"
"Oo...promise!"
"...pero okay ka sa malakas na tunog?....yung paputok?"
"Okay lang...basta malayo sa akin yung putok...."
"...ahh....gets....gets!"
Suddenly, a loud pop happened behind me. One of the crew popped a plastic bag he was holding. I jumped into Rj's arms and cried. Rj had to remove me from the area and console me away from the people.
"O tahan na....wala na...."
"....."
"Shh...."
I think the staff now know my detest of balloons on the floor. Hopefully they do away with balloons in the next weeksary.
