sleeptalk

"H....hello?"

"Love! Okay ka lang?"

"Huh?...uhmm...okay naman....ikaw? Tapos ka na dyan?"

"Yes....finished na....I'm okay.....plans?"

"....sleepy pa....."

"O, I'll meet you at the condo in an hour...."

"You sure?"

"Definitely...."

Rj arrived at Maine's condo an hour before she did.  He was so tired that he basically just plopped on her bed as soon as he removed his shoes and pants.

She snuggled next to him, resting her head on his arm. He moved and turned, facing her, still unconscious and in deep slumber. She was forced to turn too. She closed her eyes and slept as he wrapped his arms and leg around her. They slept in an embrace.

Many hours later, as the sun set, he slowly opened his eyes. He could barely see as the gray skies of dusk were slowly creeping in the window, making the bedroom quite dark. He could only make out shadows of the things in the bedroom. He had to reorient his thoughts on where he was. He was quite exhausted from a full day of work the day before that ended that morning. He barely made it to work, actually. When he finally showed up at work, he had just a few minutes more to be productive and then his day was done. He was still quite sleepy and disoriented, actually; Maine's invitation for him to nap at her condo couldn't have come at a better time.

Rj turned to his side and saw Maine, curled up on the bed beside him. Knowing she was a light sleeper, he almost stopped moving immediately as soon as he could make out her figure in the dark. He pulled a blanket over her, tucked her hair behind her ear and carefully moved to stand up from the bed.

When he returned from the bathroom, Maine was still curled up, sleeping soundly. She was just as exhausted as he was. They ended the last day of shooting for their movie just that morning then had work at EB at noon. Thankfully, their afternoon was free.

He gently lay back beside her and cuddled her. He slowly put his arm around her as he curved his body to cradle her in his. Soon after, he fell asleep again.

In the early morning light, as Rj was regaining consciousness, he felt something ticklish on his chest. He slowly opened his eyes and looked down. Maine's head was resting on his shoulder while her fingers drew circles on his chest. He kissed the top of her head. She stopped "drawing" and patted his chest.

He reached for his phone on the bedside table to check on the time – 5:30am. He had fallen asleep at around 3 or 4pm the day before, woke up for a few minutes but went back to sleep soon after. He had had about 12 hours of sleep! His eyes were still heavy but his mind and body seemed rejuvenated. Since he couldn't quite see Maine's face, he quietly spoke....

"Maine...."

She didn't respond. "She must still be sleeping...." he thought. "....poor thing must be really tired...." So he just nuzzled his lips on the top of her head and closed his eyes again.

Unknown to Rj, Maine had been awake for about an hour already. But since it was still dark, she was just relishing in the presence of Rj on her bed. She woke up from her sleep when she heard a voice speak.

"Love...you...." Rj murmured in his sleep

"What did you say?" she asked, smirking at him as his mouth moved while his eyes were shut.

"I.....love......you...." Rj said again...

"Love you, too...." she replied, dazed at the idea that Rj talks in his sleep.

".....Maine...." were his "last words" before she couldn't quite make of what he was saying. That plus he turned away from her and stopped talking altogether.

"Hehehe! So, he sleep-talks....cute" she thought.
