Maine was sitting at the dining table with other friends. Being a bit unfocused on the current topic, she snaps a photo of the ceiling and chooses a filter for it. She's semi-surprised that it was already past 3am. Maine glances over her shoulder at the living room where, on the couch, Rj was seated with his head resting on the sofa's backrest, his face towards the ceiling.
Maine stood up from her chair and went over to her sleeping hubby. She studied his angelic face for a while. "Wawa naman..." she said as she exhaled. It had been a long day for both of them. They celebrated one year of their on-screen relationship. Preparations and rehearsals for it happened days before and for sure, Rj was way beyond exhausted at this point. Maine, herself was tired. She had been battling a cough the day before the anniversary. Rj thought she would really get sick. His worrying led to a headache which he complained about that morning. Maine massaged his head and gave him medicine and he was all better after.
They went off on a date after the big anniversary celebration. They wanted to celebrate, just the two of them. They went to their favourite hotel restaurant and feasted on the scrumptious buffet. Now, they were some place else, with friends.
Maine smiled a little as she observed how Rj slept. He looked so peaceful and calm. She didn't want to wake him up just yet although they needed to travel back home. She quietly went up to him and kissed him on the lips; one small peck.
He smiled even with his eyes closed. She kissed him again but this time, Rj moved his lips to receive hers. He opened his eyes and smiled at her. She sat on his lap as they shared an intimate kiss. Maine rested her head on his shoulder as she put her arms around his neck.
"Akala ko tulog ka na...."
"Naka-idlip ako....but your kiss woke me up...." Rj answered with a smile. He kissed the top of her head.
"Hahaha! Sleeping Beauty?" She teased and giggled.
"....parang ganun..." He chuckled.
"Love....Thank you...."
"For what?"
"....for everything....for believing in me...you know naman my insecurities, diba?....for guiding me.....for not giving up.....basta, alam mo na yun.....I can never thank you enough, my dear...."
"Thank you din...."
"For what naman?"
"For everything din....for being you.....always promise me that we'll be here for each other....always...."
"Always...." Maine put up her pinky finger and Rj locked his on hers; a pinky swear.
"Uwi na ba tayo?....Ano oras na ba?" Rj asked after a long while.
"Uhmm....mag-f-4:30am na.....pinauwi ko na nga yung driver ko e....okay lang?" Maine said as she checked her watch and looked at Rj.
"Oo naman....if it were possible nga lang na ako nalang ang driver mo e...."
They said their goodbyes to their friends and went out the door to Rj's car. The parking lot was quite open and they walked hand in hand towards Rj's car which was parked at the far end. Despite their lack of sleep and obvious tiredness, they were still quite playful, Maine dragging Rj up the hill to the car.
And just like that, Rj slightly yanked Maine's hand which made her come close to him. He embraced her with his free hand as she put her arms on his shoulders. He kissed her on the lips, lifted her and spun her around.
"I love you...I love you...I love you....I love you!!!" he repeated over and over again as he kissed her forehead.
"I love you, too!" Maine replied, giggling. "...uhmm...Love, yung mga driver nakatingin, o...." she said as she looked around the parking lot where several men and drivers were.
"Hi Kuya! Good morning po!" Rj beamed and waved at the people. "Girlfriend ko po!"
Maine bowed her head, smiling. "....nakakahiya...." she said under her breath.
The men were all smiling at them. Some gave Rj a thumbs up while the others clapped their hands.
"I'm super happy and proud that we don't have to hide anything anymore....." Rj reasurred Maine.
"I'm happy.....and proud....to have you in my life" she said into his ear as she hugged him tightly.
