Chapter 9

I walked inside my house and headed straight to the kitchen. My mom and Sophia were not where I had seen them last, so I guess they went to her dance class. Mom must've taken Austin with her because he was not here either. I mean why would he, he is only 10, and I don't think that is legal.

I went in my room and changed into a pair of sweatpants and a baggy shirt that had the PINK logo on it. Once I was done, I went on my computer and got on my video chat to talk to Alison. After two rings, she picked up.

"Hey Girl." I said.

"Hey Bre. Who were those girls." she asked

"Well, those are the Queen Bees of the school. So, if you end up going to our school, you'll definitely see them around." Her smile turned into a frown. I know Alison, better than anyone and that frown means that she is afraid of what might happen. You see when it comes to Mean Girls, Alison has a hard time speaking towards them. Unlike me, she has been to about 3 adoptive homes. All bad experiences. Her first adoptive home, the son of the family repeatedly raped her when the parents weren't home. Then, the second adoptive home she was abused by the her adoptive father. However, this only happened when he was drunk, which was all the time. And then, he started to become sober and when he did hit her, every hit would be worse than the last one. The last adoptive family she was in, she had become very dark. Like everything she wore or listen to was just dark. She would have never smiled a real smile. It was always fake. And on top of that she was being bullied and to solve her pain and misery she would cut. So, to her, Mean Girls is like going back into that place.

"Don't worry about them. Jake and I will protect you and I will tell Principal Warner that you need to be with me in every class. Although, you would be taking AP English, Honors Math, AP Chemistry and Art." I said naming all the classes that I am taking that is so high advanced. And Knowing Alison, she hates taking hard classes because she feels like her grades won't show an AP or Honors student.

" Thanks Bre, and who is Jake?"

"No problem and he is a new kid from the school. We went to the Winter Prom dance together and got voted for Prom King and Queen. So, that is why Queen Bee was saying those things about me. She can be a real drama queen sometimes but don't worry. All you have to do is know that her weakness is people who can be.....her but....better." She laughed as I joined her.

"Thanks Bre. I feel much better. Your the best friend that anyone can ever ask for." she said.

"Hey, that is what best friends are for and I am so excited to see you again. When are you coming here?" It's been a while since I saw Alison, so the fact that she is moving here, it's just so amazing.

"Yea, me too. I missed you so much and when I heard that we were moving to California, I was so excited and I immediately called you after I heard the good news. Also, I will be leaving in two days. Which I am mad about but at the same time happy because on the one hand, they didn't even give me enough time to pack but on the other hand, I will be seeing my best friend sooner than later." I nodded as she smiled.

"Well, than what are you sitting their for. Get packing. I wanna see my best friend and I don't want her to be unhappy because she doesn't have all of her belongings." I laughed as she joined and we waved goodbye to each other. Afterwards, I took out my drawing notebook and drew pictures of dresses. When I get older, I wanna have my own fashion line. I actually have a whole clothes line that I made myself but I never wore. And, now that I think about it, maybe I should wear them. It might get my dreams to come faster. I don't know. I'll just ask Alison.

Once I was done with the drawing, I put the colors on it, so that I would know what colors I would want on it. All of the sudden my phone started ringing. I picked it up and answered the call without even looking at the caller I.D.

"Hey Angel, what you up to?" the voice asked. After hearing his voice, I knew exactly who it was.

"Hey Jay, and nothing really. I just finished with talking to a friend. She actually is coming here to California, so you'll probably meet her." I said. I don't know why but I just didn't want him to know about my designs yet. Maybe later.

"Oh, well can I come over?" he asked.

Wait. Over here. As in my house. A boy at my house. Oh dear heaven lord. Umm...I don't know what my mom will think. I mean she already met him, so maybe it's okay.

"Hello..... Aubrey. Anyone there?" Jake's voice said, interrupting my thoughts.

"Oh, sorry. I was...uh...thinking. Um... I will be right back. Don't hang up." I said leaving my phone on my bed. I went back to my phone and said "Give me 3 minutes." I left my phone on my bed again and went to the kitchen to see my mom cooking something. Also, Sophie playing with dolls on the island counter table. She probably came back with Sophie and Austin a half hour ago or so.

"Hey mom, ummm.....can....ummm....can Jake come over. I'm gonna help him with a Math worksheet that we got from school." I asked.

"Yea, sweetheart. Jake is always welcome. But, make sure you crack the door open a little bit. I don't wanna be a grandma yet." she joked as she laughed and the twins looked confused. I'm pretty sure my face showed how heated up it was.

"MOM!" I squealed.

She laughed even harder as I ran back to my room, remembering that Jake is still on the phone. I picked it up and answer "Hello, I'm back."

"Hey, and I'm glad. I was starting to get worried about you. And I have a question?" I nodded, forgetting that he can't see me.

"Yea, sure." I said.

"Did you just ask your mom, if I can come over." he asked as I could tell he had that smirk on his face.

My cheeks were now extremely red by now and I could definitely tell that he has a big grin on his face.

"Awww, it's okay. I'm pleased that I am the first boy to actually stay over your house. Besides, well...you know."

I smiled at how caring he was to my feelings.

"Ooh, well don't get too cocky. You don't even know the answer. So, technically; right about now your not the first, so....HA." I laughed.

"That wasn't funny. But your cute, so I won't be mad for long. Unless, I'm invited." he said with a smirk.

"Okay, fine. Your invited." I sighed. This boy is just too much for me. What am I gonna do with him.

"K, be there in five. See ya." he said as he hung up.

When I hung up, I cleaned up my dresser with all my work on it. I put everything away and in 5 minutes the doorbell rang.
