All alone

Chapter 22

Jake's P.O.V.

So, I spend Thanksgiving with Aubrey. It has been a week since I was back and even though I felt a little disgraceful, I choose to not let that defy me. I am my own person and nothing that her Uncle did will hurt me in any way. 

The court wants me to testify against him. I am not gonna lie. I am kinda nervous because they will ask questions about what Victor and the others made me do and also did to me. Aubrey will be there and find out. I guess in all reality, I'm just afraid to let her in on that path in my life.

Luckily, the court date isn't for another day. Soon, I know. But my lawyer says that if I want to take this guy down, I will have to testify as soon as possibly. Therefore, the testimony I make will be raw and unforgettable. 

Right now I am with Aubrey. We wanted to have a picnic. It was her idea, although outside was freezing, so we decided to have it inside.

"Okay, so we have sandwiches, we have apple sparkling champagne, strawberries and to top it off, we have chocolate fondue. It's the perfect evening for a picnic, don't you think?" She said.

"Yes, absolutely." I said as I took the bottle of apple sparkling champagne and opened it, pouring myself and her a glass. 

We clinked it together and then took a sip. "So, are you nervous about tomorrow?" she asked.

"Honestly...." 

"Yes, honestly." she said.

"Yea, I am. What I will say is going to be hard to hear for you and I don't want you thinking that it is your fault in anyway." I said.

"I know. And I can't make any promises but for you and because I love you, I will try. Okay, I will try." She said.

I then leaned in as we kissed. Suddenly, Sophie and Austin came in.

"Ewww. Why do you guys always do that? Isn't it gross." the twins said at the same time.

"I kiss your sister because I love her and well, when you get older and you find a girl or boy you like, you'll realize that all you will want to do is be passionate with one another in every way humanely possible. Plus, she has kissable lips." I said. Aubrey then blushed as she hid her face in my chest. 

The twins groaned as they walked past us and went somewhere in this house. I couldn't help but laugh as Aubrey joined me. 

The rest of the day we spent hanging out and then kind of end up cleaning the kitchen. Since, Thanksgiving, it's been a little scrumptious. So, we cleaned up. I think we were becoming those couples that do everything together just to spend time with each other. 

Is it just me or not?

Today is the court date and I am really nervous. I was nervous before but then I realized that I was going to see those guys and there looks they will give me during my testimony. My mom decided to take the day off and come. She made Arabella stay with Aunt Elena. I think she wanted Ara to believe everything was okay.

Nothing I am about to say was even slightly okay, though. If you ask me, I think she just wants the last months or days for her to be happy. 

Right now, I am at home getting ready. My mom was finishing up with what she was doing. Knowing her, she was making sure that she looked perfect so that if anyone wanted to ask her questions, she would lead them to her business. 

Soon enough we both got ready and headed to our cars. I then drove to Aubrey's house as she followed behind. I then got out of the car as I reached Aubrey's house and knocked on the door. Her mom answered, "Hey, Jake. You ready?"
