Chapter 3- "I Guess Family Is Hard"

"Brother?" I ask Liam as he is driving me home throwing my  feet on the dash.

"Yeah, yeah brother. Its no big deal." He says concentrating on the road.

"Not a big deal!" I exclaim. "We've been friends for ten years and you tell me now? And you didn't even tell me! He did." I say crossing my arms.

He sighs, "It's just a long story that I never wanted to get into."

I rolls my eyes and un do my seatbelt. "Stop the car." I state.

He looks at me confused. "Quinn I'm not stopping the car."

"I swear to god Liam if you don't I will jump out." He looks at me and knows I'm not kidding and pulls over. I get out of the car and open his side of the car door. "Get out." I say pulling him out of his seat.

"What the hell is the point of this Quinn?" I ignore him and pull him into the field that we stopped at. I sit down and pat the grass next to me. He sits.

"Spill."

"Okay so let me get this straight. Hunter is your half brother. His father took Hunter when he was 1 because your mom was a alcoholic?"

"Yes. But my mother changed for Hunter. But his father still left her-"

"Then a year later you were born with the man your mom married."

"Exactly." He says looking up at the sky. I sigh and lay down my head in his lap looking up at him.

We sit there in silence just looking at the clouds. "I guess family is hard." I finally say. He looks down at me.

"I guess so."

The weekend was finally here. I was so happy I didn't have to deal with all that Cassie crap. I throw my stuff on my desk and jump onto my bed. So exhausted from classes.

Buzzzz Buzzzzzzz

I look at my glowing screen and see a call from Liam.

"Hey Liam what's up?"  I say answering the phone.

"Hey Q, wanna come over and watch a movie tonight at my place? I just got the new movie you have been obsessing over."  I take a minute and my eyes widen.

"The new hunger games movie!?!?" I squeal into my phone letting out the inner geek in me.

"Yep. Just came out, decided you'd be the perfect one to watch it with. I mean if you not busy." He says sarcastically.

"Hell yes. I'll be over in 30." I hang up and run out of my room. "Mom!! Can you drive me to Liam's?"

"Sure honey!" She yells back. I giddily run back into my room like a little girl getting a new toy and hop into the shower.

I slip into some easy jeans and a loose crop top. I throw my wet hair into a messy bun and throw my glasses on. "Let's go mommmmm." I hum as I go down the stairs.

"Why are you so happy?" My mom asks as we walk out the door.

"Liam got the new hunger games movie and I'm really excited." I admit.

She nods and walks out. The sunlight hitting her brown hair making it shine. My mom is quite pretty. Her hair to her waist. Her eyes hazel and glowing in the sun. People say I look like her and my sister looks like my dad. But I honestly don't know.

We chat about my moms bakery and the new cupcake ideas she had and the new ones I have.

"You should invite Liam and Ellie to help this weekend. I could use the extra help its supposed to be busy."

"Sure." I say with a smile. My mom owns a very successful bakery below our house. Called Dream Cupcakes. She named it to show everyone manly her kids that dreams are a thing to work for, and isn't given. Like how you need to work for the money you get to buy a cupcake. Is a long meaning.

He pulls up at Liam's house. It's a nice modern family styled house. Not to big but not to small. I always come over to Liam's, it was always my second house.

"Bye mom love you!" I say running up to Liam's door. I go in without knocking, not caring like always.

"Quinn! Sweetie!"

"Hey Vickie! How are you?" I ask Liam's mom.

"I'm good! It's so nice to see you. I'd love to chat but I need to run to work. But you need to defiantly come over for dinner sometime."

"I'd love to. Have fun at work."

"Thanks sweetie. Liam should be down in a sec."

"Okay thanks." I say walking towards the living room as she closes the door.  I hop onto the couch. The warm comfortable feeling surrounds me, like I'm home. The smell of one of Vickie's candles fills my nose.

"Hey Q." Liam says as he walks down the stairs.

"Hey." I smile. He stands there looking at me. I glare at him. "You better put that movie in before I hurt you." He laughs.

"Oh you mean this movie." The shine from the disk case glares in the light. He smiles. "You need to get it first shorty."

"Liam. I swear to god I'm not doing this." He crosses his arms. The case in visible reach. I quickly reach for it. Liam pulls it away and grabs my arm and pulls me off the couch. I wince in pain as he grabs my wrist.

"Shit. Quinn I didn't mean-" I quickly grab the case.

"Ha I win." I say with a smile.

"You dirty cheater!" He yells.

"It's not cheating if there was no rules." I say running over to the CD player and put in the movie. "Now sit your butt down and watch this movie with me." He laughs and sits next to me.

"Wait!!! What about Katniss and Gale! I shipped them wayyyyy more then Katniss and Peta." I whine at the end of the movie.

He laughs. "I shipped Katniss and Peta. They had more of a story." He says.

My eyes widen. "Look who's turning into a geek." I smirk.

"Am not!"

"Are too."

I hear the front door unlock. And a shadowy figure enter the house. I look at Liam. He shrugs.

"Mom?" Liam calls.

The voice laughs. A very familiar laugh.

"Chill dude. It's me." Hunters voice says. Shittt. I can't have him see me like this. I grab the blanket and try to cover my face. "Who's here Liam?" I hear him ask closer then before.

"Qui-" Hunter takes the blanket off my face.

"Cupcake?" He looks at Liam. Then back at me.

"Hi." I say blushing.

"Wow cupcake didn't know you wore glasses." I groan. He smirks. "Anyways was I interrupting something."

"Yea-" Liam starts.

"No. Actually Liam was about to take me home." I look at him with pleading eyes.

He smiles a sad smile. "Yeah." He says.

Thank you. I mouth to Liam. He smiles and gets his keys.
