When I said I wanted to stay home this morning and ditch school, I wish I did. I wish I could rewind time back to this morning when I woke up and contemplated staying home and instead up stupidly getting up for school I'd stay in bed and get a few extra hours.
Currently I'm sitting at 'our' lunch table in the winter. When it gets to cold or to snowy outside we sit inside at one of the many round tables by the wall. Now before this year it was just Ellie, Trevor, Liam and I. And sometimes some other kids would sit with us but leave the next day. We were always okay with that. I mean Trevor had the football team he could go sit with but he always wants to sit with Ellie. And Liam always wants to sit with all of us.
Now here's my situation, I'm sitting at the lunch table between Liam and Hunter, Trevor and Ellie facing us. There's plenty of room for everyone to have one seat away from each other but no, they had to sit right next to me and make it completely awkward.
Ellie tries multiple times to break the awkward silence that fell between all of us. Trevor started talking to Hunter about some kind of sport game last night but nothing stops the glares coming from each brother.
I finally give up and blurt out, "how the hell do you two live together!"
They both look at me shocked at my sudden outburst but I couldn't take the painful silence and glares.
"A-lot of planning cupcake, a-lot of it." I raise an eyebrow at Hunter.
"He means, he gets up at 6:15 and takes about a nine minute shower then makes himself breakfast, while he's in the shower I eat breakfast, than when he comes down stairs I'm already in the downstairs shower taking a shower. He leaves before me to pick you up then I leave, so we also show up to school at different times." Liam explains his eyes not leaving Hunter's.
I chuckle and roll my eyes annoyed, "you guys are brothers can you guys really not stand each other that much you have to completely ignore each other?"
They shrug and Ellie cuts in " you two are ridiculous what is this even for?"
They both glance at me before looking at Ellie, "nothing." They both mumble.
I quietly bang my head on the lunch table. This can not be happening.
"Quinn!" Hunter yells running up to me. I say good bye to the girls I was talking to and meet Hunter half way.
"What's up?" I ask starting to walk to my next class, Hunter walking next to me.
"I realized I never really asked you out on a real date." He says shyly. I freeze. I close my eyes to wrap my mind around this, play it cool Quinn.
I start walking again, "is this you asking me out?" I ask slyly.
He chuckles, "I guess," he says smiling, "this Wednesday, I'll pick you up around 7:00."
"Hold up Avery I haven't given you an answer yet." I say trying to confuse him like he's done to me. "Also you still haven't given me a real question to answer." I say stopping in front of my classroom.
He sighs, "Would you like to go to dinner with me this Wednesday?"
"I don't know Hunter, I might be busy." I say with a small smile and see his drop, "I'm joking, of course I'll go." He instantly picks up his smiles and throws it back on his face. He looks so adorable when he is actually smiling.
The bell signals the beginning of the period and I turn around and rush into the classroom with the biggest smile ever. The teacher doesn't even complain that I'm late and I sit in my seat peacefully.
I'm going to totally fail that test next week, I didn't pay attention to that class at all. My mind kept switching through everything that might happen this Wednesday and it gets me really excited. A million questions rush through my head, like where he's taking me to dinner and how i should dress. I want it to be everything I dreamed of and hoped for, I want it to perfect.
The rest of the day goes by in a blur. I probably learned nothing the second half of the day but I honestly could care less. Ellie is probably as excited as I am. After school she basically forced me to go to the mall with her to get something to wear. She claims that 'I don't have any decent clothes to go to a dinner with.' Which I don't disagree with but I didn't really want to go shopping today.
We get to the mall about 15 minutes away from the school and she pulls me inside. We probably go to a million stores before she decides that the best one would be the new dress shop in the mall. The name is something super complicated to pronounce so I'm not even going to try.
She forces me into the changing room with a million different dresses and she didn't like any of them, they were either to red, doesn't go with my eyes well or to big to small.
"This is the last one," she says pushing the last dress she picked out for me.
I sigh and take the dress and go back into the dressing room. So far I like the color, it's a deep purple and it's very soft and comfortable. I throw it on and I fall in love. It's tight but stretchy so it hugs every part of me and as cut outs on the hips.
I smile. It's not too often I like the way I look. I come out of the changing room and see Ellie's annoyed expression she just had to a bright smile.
"It's perfect," she says after making me twirl in a circle. "Now go change and I'll pay." I don't argue with her paying because I always loosing the argument.
I hurry back in to the changing room and change into my clothes from school and grab the dress being careful not to wrinkle it.
I can't believe this is actually happening, Hunter and I are actually going on our first date.
