Chapter 16: Always expect the unexpected

Thinking I was going to school today, I got up at my usual time which was 6:00. Plus, I couldn't go to sleep, so I just went on Instagram and post pictures of me in my pajamas. After I finished that, I went on Bella's profile and apparently she's on too. Her last selfie was about two minutes ago. So I decided to private chat her. 'Hey, how's your morning?'  Then I went to Cynthia's profile, apparently she was following Heather, and her profile was surprisingly full of gifs. I didn't think a girl like her would have things like that. I started following her, and I was really hoping she'd follow me back.

After a while I went to sleep and I woke up at 11:30 a.m. Then I got my breakfast and started watching CP24, mostly because nothing else was on. Then the news was showing an Amber alert and then it was describing Noah perfectly. It says that he's gone missing, and the last place he was seen was at my school. Immediately I got a call from Derek, I answered with terror. "H-h-h-ello?" I say

"Calm down, it's just me. I assume you've seen the news. Could you come to my house? I think I know where Noah is, and I don't want to go alone." Derek says so calmly.

"Derek, call the police if you know where he is."

"Yeah, but I'm not 100% sure."

"Call the police."

"No, come here now." he says very strictly. I roll my eyes and hang up. I put my clothes on and head to his house.

When I got there, I didn't even have to knock. It's like he knew I was going to be here. He leaves the house and says "Come on." and I just head the direction he was going. I look at my surroundings and see vandalism everywhere and I was so scared because it reminded me of a terrible neighbourhood. I was so scared. Now, I know why Derek didn't want to go alone. "So, this is where he usually goes when he's mysteriously disappears. But it's never been this serious."

"Wait, how do you know?" I ask

"Remember, I used to be friends with him before he dated Heather." We head to the end of the neighbourhood and saw there was a hideaway in this little store. This is a really sad hideaway, then we saw a body bag just lying there. Derek and I exchange terrified looks, courageous Derek opens the body bag and sees Noah dead right there with his eyes wide open. I gasped and pinched myself hoping it was a scary dream. "Noah's dead." says Derek as scared as I am. I pull out my phone and I call the police immediately.

I couldn't go home for a while because the police needed Derek and my witness to see what happened. But sadly, we weren't there when it happened. So the police made us walk around the neighbourhood with them until they found out what really happened. There was this guy who said he heard some things happening outside of his house. Plus, he says that he heard gunshots firing last night. I really wanted to go home that time and I couldn't because they still need my help. I called my mom and told her my friend suspiciously died and she was crying like crazy on the other line. So I ended up just hanging up.

After a super long day, I went home and couldn't fall asleep, my mom ambushed me with a billion questions. I told her I was exhausted even if I wasn't, because tomorrow the police is going to ask me a billion questions about it on air. So I just tucked myself into my sheets and start crying. I used Noah to get back at Heather, it wasn't my intentions but I knew what I was doing. I knew he wanted to be with me, and I was holding my feelings for him back, because who knows if it was homicide or suicide. I liked him so much, and I was so arrogant to the fact that I liked him he liked me.

What was really sad about this chapter was when I was writing the ending I was listening to Never Forget You. Which made the chapter more sad then it is. I guess music really sets the tune. I'll see you in the next chapter.
