Wanda didn't move from her place until Vision appeared through the wall.
Shrieking, she sat up and quickly moved the lamp back onto the night table. "Vis!"
"Oh, sorry, Miss. Wanda," Vision said and looked towards the ground, averting his gaze. "Captain Rogers wishes to speak with you."
"Of course, I missed training again today," Wanda thought with a silent groan, but instead responded with a mere nod.
It's not that she didn't like training, Wanda just didn't get the.....point, in a way. It seemed pointless to think about actually going on another mission with the avengers. What help would she be? She hated to admit it, but Wanda didn't feel very comfortable around the team. However, that never stopped her before- with Pietro, she felt safe and at ease. But now that he was gone, she was on her own adjusting to these new 'teammates', and Wanda felt more out of place than ever.
She was a monster, couldn't they see that? She had willingly helped Ultron kill dozens of people. Wanda was frightened of her power- who knew what could happen if her emotions got the best of her. But Steve had only shook his head and laughed- yes, actually laughed- at the thought of Wanda losing control. It had been somewhat reassuring, but not a lot.
Taking a deep breath, Wanda slowly stood up and stretched her legs, before stepping outside the room. The compound was large, and Wanda still found herself getting lost between all the twists and turns. Thankfully, she knew the way to the training room well, and was there in no time- without getting lost or confused once.
As expected, Steve was standing there, patiently waiting as he folded his hands in front of his chest.
"Captain," Wanda greeted hesitantly. She had only speaken to the super soldier during their training, and even then the conversations were hardly social.
But of course, Wanda rarely spoke to anyone besides an occasional word here or there.
Barton was the only person who she seemed remotely close to. Despite retiring and considering himself an ex-avenger, he made sure she was comfortable and even stopped by once in a while to see how she was doing. "It's the least I can do," he had said. Wanda would never tell Clint this, but sometimes she wished he would stop by more- she enjoyed the company, and he reminded her of her own father, who was brutally taken from her and Pietro when they were only ten years old.
"Wanda," Steve said as she walked closer. He didn't appear angry or upset, but Steve was always good at remaining calm.
Steve made his way over to a table and picked up a file, "I think I may need your help on a mission."
Startled, Wanda moved to where he stood- this was not what she had been expecting at all. "Sir?"
In anwser to the question, Steve handed Wanda the file, and motioned for her to read it.
She obeyed, and opened the file to see one name she very much recognized scrawled on a piece of paper. Confused, Wanda looked up at Steve, "Strucker's lab?"
"Was destroyed," Steve finished. "But of course you already know this. However, Stark was able to pick up some traces of power around that area- used recently. Last we heard, power in the area along with Strucker himself were both gone, but that seems to not be the case anymore. You and I are going to go check it out."
Wanda looked back at the file again, but meeting Steve's gaze, "You asked me?"
Steve responded, "You have firsthand knowledge of Strucker- how he thought, the way he planned- that could come into play."
"Of course," Wanda nodded her head. Despite her questions, Wanda knew this was exactly what she needed- a chance to be back in action would hopefully help all her fears melt away. "When do we start?"
Steve grinned, "Tomorrow work for you?"
A/N
I was going to have Steve respond with "We just did" (like in CA:WS) before I realized it made absolutely no sense to the plot. Oh well!
So...how was it?
Please, reviews mean a lot to me! If something felt off or wrong, don't be afraid to ask me about it!
