A Chat with Qui Gon

Obi Wan's POV

"How did you manage to make contact with Qui Gon, Master Yoda?" I asked as Yoda led us into his private quarters. Like most Jedi quarters, Yoda's quarters had a simple design and had few objects inside, although he had a fountain full of singing crystals.

"Taught him to become a Force spirit, the Force priestesses did. Heard his voice, I did." Yoda said as he sat down. "Take a seat, you may." Anakin and I followed suit.

"Force spirit? You mean, you can appear as a ghost after death?" Anakin questioned with enthusiasm. Some ancient Jedi have learned the secret of 'immortality', but Qui Gon was the first Jedi to learn this secret in centuries. I use that term quite loosely because they really don't live forever.

"Yes, though at the time of his death, unfinished, his training was, so as a disembodied voice, he can only manifest."

"Can we make contact with him?" I asked.

"Oh, yes, you can, Obi Wan." A friendly, familiar voice echoed throughout the room.

"Qui Gon!" I cried.

"It's me, Obi Wan. Although I cannot appear as a Force spirit. How's everything? Did you train the boy as I asked? Did I miss anything?"

"Um, yes, Qui Gon. I've been a Jedi Knight for three years now." Anakin answered awkwardly.

"Starting to take over, the Sith have. Sometime ago, abolished, the Republic has, and in its place, reign, the Galactic Empire does." Yoda informed.

"That doesn't sound too good." Qui Gon voiced with concern.

"Something's been bugging me lately, Qui Gon. I'm starting to wonder if Anakin is really fit to defeat the Sith. He's emotionally vulnerable and cannot avoid making attachments, and his senses and judgement get clouded." I stated with concern.

"Of course he is, Obi Wan. When I found him as a little boy on Tatooine, I was pretty sure I found the one. What was his midi-chloran count again?"

"I think it's over 20,000." Anakin said.

"That's right, Anakin. I've never met a Force sensitive with a midi-chloran count of over 20,000. So you're obviously the one."

"The one? Don't tell me..."

"Yes, yes, Anakin. Have you forgotten about the prophecy of the Chosen One?" Qui Gon reminded.
