2 months laterMelanie's POV
"Alana! Lunch is ready!" I yelled as I laid the plates on the kitchen table. I heard her footsteps coming.
"Mommy look!" I looked behind me and saw she was holding a paper that had colorful scribbles on it.
I crouched down in front of her, "Wow baby! That's so pretty!" I told her with a big smile.
She smiled at it proudly, "Mhm! And look, that's you, daddy and me!" She said pointing at each colorful scribble.
"Aww, that's so cute honey." I kissed her on the forehead grabbing the paper from her. "Want me to put it on the fridge?" I asked her, earning an excited nod from her.
I giggle at her, while putting a magnet on the paper, making it stay perfectly on the fridge. "Alright babygirl, go eat now before the food gets cold." I told her.
She ran and sat on the chair and began eating. I sat down next to her, glancing over to the empty chair in front of me. Justin wasn't here.. as usual. He didn't change.. or his schedule didn't change at least after that one day when he tried to spend the whole day with us. I get it though, he's too busy. But now it's even more crazier than before. We barely even talk to each other anymore. I mean, sure there's that occasional hi's and bye's but that's only in the morning or nights when he's leaving.
I just miss him and Alana sure misses him too. She's always asking about him and it breaks my hearts knowing that she's basically growing up without her dad. "Mommy." Alana looked at me with big eyes, bringing me back to reality.
"Yeah?" I asked her, bringing the cup of water up to my lips.
"Can we go to Chazzy's house today?" She asked me before putting a spoon full of rice in her mouth.
"Nope!" I said, smiling to myself.
"Why not?" She whined.
"Not until you wipe that messy mouth of yours little girl!" I told her, handing her a napkin. There was sauce all over her mouth.
"Oh!" She giggled and wiped her mouth. "But mommy, remember what I told you? I'm not little anymore! I'm a big girl now!" She said with a big smile.
"Sorry baby." I laughed. "Are you excited for school though?!" I asked her with excitement. My little girl's going to pre-school soon. No matter what, she'll always by my little girl.
She frowned this time. "No! I don't want to go to school yet!"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Why not?" I asked her, putting away the dishes since I realized that she was done.
"Because, all of the other kids are going to have their daddy and mommy with them when they go to school." I heard her say as I put the dishes in the dish washer.
I walked back to her, sitting next to her. "Well, what's so wrong about that baby?" I stroked her head softly.
"Cause Daddy won't be there with me. Only you! I want daddy to be there too!" She yelled, tears forming in her eyes.
My heart broke, I looked at her with comforting eyes. "Oh Alana." I grabbed her and placed her on my lap and she bursted out in tears. I rubbed her back. "Daddy will be there with us okay? We'll even tell him to go too." I told her.
She peeked her eye from my chest and looked at me. "Promise?" She pouted.
"I promise babygirl." I took at my pinky and she wrapped her small pinky around mine.

"What do you mean you can't go?!" I silently yelled at Justin since Alana was sleeping in our room. Mine and Justin's room is basically hers since she sleeps with me every night. I was currently talking to Justin about Alana's first day of pre-school and I had to fight the urge to fall asleep and wait for him. It was already 2 am.
"I meant what I said Mel." Justin sighed as he took off his shirt.
"Well can you at least try to go?! For the sake of our daughter Justin, just please try to go to this one." I practically begged him.
He looked at me, "Melanie, I can't blow this meeting off!" He yelled and I glared at him, pointing over to Alana who was peacefully sleeping on the bed. He grabbed my arm gently and led me outside. "I can't miss this meeting Melanie. It's really important for my career."
I groaned silently. "It's always important when it comes to your caeer but when it comes to your own family? You just don't care!" I snapped at him.
Justin sighed. I can tell he was trying to control his anger. But he had no right or reason to mad. He's blowing off his own family. "Look, I can't do anything about it. I can't and I will repeat this. I cannot skip this meeting!"
"This is your daughter's first day of pre-school! When are you going to make her your first priority other than your career?!" I told him, trying to knock some sense out of him.
He groaned, running his hand through his hair in frustration. "Alright fine! I'll fucking talk to Scooter tomorrow!" His eyes widened realizing that he had just raised his voice at me like that.
I was about to yell back when I heard Alana's sweet innocent voice, "Mommy? Daddy?" Justin and I turned our heads to see Alana standing in front of the door, with a teddy bear in her arms.
I glared at Justin one more time before walking back into the room. "Come on Alana. Let's go back to bed."
