No One's POV

With a loud smack, the pair of lips released each other.

"Ryan." She cried in disbelief as she instantly distanced herself from him once he let her go. She released her tears as she cried with her hand to her mouth to avoid being too loud.

The two stood there in complete silence. Although they stood about 5 feet from each other, it wasn't enough for her. She wanted nothing more but to get away from him as far she could. The tears poured down her face as the betrayal and shock washed over her. She was confused and heartbroken that her best friend would do that to her. He, on the other hand, stood their with his head down, shame covering his entire face. He couldn't believe what he had done and why he chose to do that at a time like this. Or why he even did it in the first place.

Suddenly, Melanie broke the stillness and silence once she swiftly made her way over to him and slapped him right across the face. It was loud. And hard. Her hand stung like crazy, feeling as if a million bees had just stung it at the same time. She didn't care though, she wanted him to feel the pain he had just caused her. With his face turned to the other side, he froze. Yes, it was burning his cheek but he knew he deserved it and didn't bother to fight back or say anything in return.

"How dare you." She said through gritted teeth. She wiped her tears away as anger started to consume her. "How fucking dare you." She repeated. Through the hurricane of emotions, she was still speechless and couldn't do anything but curse to just let it all out.

He still didn't say anything nor moved a muscle. He simply looked the other way.

His silence made her blood boil.

With one last shove, she backed away from him again."You're just going to stand there.. after you fucking kissed me? When my husband is in the other room?" She yelled/whispered as she realized the words she had just said. "My husband is in that room, Ryan." She then spoke softly as a sob escaped her lips. "Your best friend." She cried and felt herself crouching down slightly as her knees went weak. She stood against the wall to support herself as she softly cried. "Why would you kiss me." Her voice was muffled and cracked along the way.

Ryan gulped and licked his lips. What the fuck was he supposed to say? Sorry for kissing you? No. He knew he'd never be able to take it back.

"God, say something already." Her tone with him made him want to walk away and leave. She never spoke to him like that. But he couldn't blame her. He kissed her.

He turned to look at her and what he saw just completely broke him. He even took a step towards her instinctively but stopped, realizing he was the reason for that this time. "Mel--" He paused. Words couldn't describe what he was feeling inside. He really didn't know what to say.

Melanie knew he wasn't going to say anything so she did. She stood up straight again and wiped her tear stained face even though it was useless. She sniffed uncontrollably but she still faced him. "I trusted you." She spoke. "I told you everything. I came to you when times were tough yet you used my vulnerability against me."

Ryan was absolutely destroyed. It's over. He confessed his feelings but he took it so far that made her hate him. "If I can take it back, I'd do it in a single heartbeat, Mel." He spoke quietly. Shame and guilt never left his face. "I'm sorry." His voice raised up a little when he felt a ball form in the back of his throat.

"Sorry." She repeated and shook her head. "That was something I thought I'd never hear from you." She said, that one word brought her back to so many memories where she repeatedly heard it from Justin. As much as he hurt her in the past, she never wants to hurt him in return, no matter what he's done. Because of that, she spoke up again after regaining her posture and took a second to free her face from all tears. "You have to tell him."
