Melanie's POV

"Alana." I whispered, shaking her slightly. "Alana baby. It's time to get up."

She whined and moaned and turned her body, wrapping herself in the blanket.

I sighed. Today was officially her first day of school and I must say that I'm really excited... more than her I think. I woke up extra early today to make her breakfast and get her outfit ready for the day. But on the inside I was actually dying to see Justin walk in. He hasn't been here ever since he saw me signing the divorce papers a couple days ago and won't even answer my calls.

"Alana, get up please." I said softly.

"Mommy." She whined but still had her eyes closed. "I don't wanna go to school!"

She squinted her eyes open and I could see tears forming making me frown in confusion. "What? What's wrong sweetheart?" I picked her up and put her on lap.

"I want to stay here! I want daddy!" She cried out. She's been missing Justin since he hasn't been here for days.

I sighed. "Alana, daddy's... he's busy right now."

She cuddled herself into my chest. "I don't want to go mommy."

I kissed her head comfortly. "Baby, you're not going to be there for a long time. I promise that time will go by quickly." She pouted. "Come on, let's go get ready okay?"

She nodded sadly and got up from my lap. I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Justin's number.

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

..."Hey it's Justin. I can't make it right no--"

I rolled my eyes as it went to voicemail.

"Go brush your teeth okay? I'm going to get ready." Alana nodded as she lazily walked over to the bathroom. I shook my head while smiling at her childish behavior. I remember being like that when I went to school still.

I heard my phone ring as I changed my clothes. I quickly picked it up thinking it was Justin.

"Hello?" I said in a hurry.

"Oh hey." I heard Ryan laugh.

I sighed. "Hey Ry."

"Sorry, did I call you at the wrong time?" He asked.

"No, I just thought you were Justin. He still hasn't answered my calls."

He paused. "He's not there still?" He asked in disbelief.

"No." I said as I walked into Alana's room where I saw her sitting on her bed, waiting for me.

Ryan sighed. "Oh. Well, how's Alana? Is she nervous?"

I smiled at his concern. "She doesn't want to go. She's too lazy." I giggled. "Reminds me of myself."

He chuckled. "At least you got her up. But hey, tell her I said to have fun. She'll do great in school and I'm sure Justin would show up anytime soon."

"Thank you Ry. Are you doing anything today? I don't know what to do while she's at school." I slightly pouted.

"Mommy. Am I wearing that?" Alana asked me and pointed at the folded clothes on top of her shelf. I nodded and gave it to her.

"Do you need help?" I asked. She shook her head and started to put her shirt on but instantly got tangled. I giggled and started helping with one hand while the other held my phone up to my ear.
