Chapter 21: The Chase

'What the hell is he talking about?' Shuurei thought after hearing what Ryuuki said. Kouyuu and Shuuei are now thinking that Ryuuki is using Shuurei run away from the girls.

''Now that you have disgraced me in front of the woman I love, you must be satisfied. But let me tell you this,'' he paused and eyed them all. He then spoke with the air of the emperor that no one interrupted him. He looked at them with ferocious eyes when he continued, ''if you dare touch my woman, I will show you no mercy. You will find yourselves punished accordingly.''

The bunch of girls did not know why but they all felt like they should be bowing their heads. They all bowed and said, ''we apologize for the inconvenience we have caused. We promise not to hurt your wife.''

Ryuuki sighed. ''You are all pretty but your manners are nowhere. You will never surpass my beautiful wife,'' he said with pride at the last statement as he suddenly held Shuurei by the waist.

The bunch of women bowed to Shuurei as a sign of asking forgiveness or showing honor.

''I am so sorry for my disgraceful act,'' the woman who kissed Ryuuki said to Shuurei. She still has her head bowed. ''What your husband had said is true. I am the one who kissed him. Please forgive my insolence and do not doubt your husband for he remained steadfast to you.'' Her companions bowed their head again, ''please forgive our insolence. We did not know he is married.''

Shuurei did not know how to respond to all these. She is still confused at what really is going on and she wanted to hit Ryuuki for saying that she is his wife. She stared at the woman who said that she is beautiful and to the one who kissed Ryuuki.

When Shuurei still did not say anything, the women said, ''we understand if our conduct is not pardonable.'' And they turned to leave. But Shuurei stopped them and said, ''it's not like that. Just do not do such things again.''

Ryuuki smiled at that and said, ''now please excuse us. My wife and I has a honeymoon to attend to,'' and pulled Shuurei close to him as he walked away from the girls and tagging her along. The girls went to the opposite direction murmuring about how the handsome onii-san should have just said to their madam that he is married.

''What honeymoon are you talking about?'' Shuurei glared at him. ''And how long are you going to hold me like this?''

Ryuuki smiled at her and said, ''until those girls are gone.''

''They already are. And I am not your wife you liar.''

''It's not a lie.''

''If you have said 'she was my wife' it could have been the truth.''

''Even so. I still consider Shuurei as my wife. Since you will be my wife again, soon.'' Ryuki said those with a smile of confidence that she wanted to hit him.

''In your dreams,'' Shuurei said icily.

He noticed that Shuurei still has an annoyed look on her face. ''You must be so disappointed in me when you saw that.'' His smile vanished and is replaced with a sad look.

''Eh? What are you talking about? I did not say anything like that.''

''But it shows on your face. I swear I did not have anything to do with those girls. They were chasing me,'' Ryuuki explained even without being asked. And as if on cue, another bunch of girls spotted them and blocked their way.

''There he is,'' one of the girls said.

Seeing these, Shuuei and Kouyou who are about to show themselves hid back behind the trees. They did not want to be chased again.

''We finally found you,'' another said with an evil glare.

''Handsome onii-san please come with us,'' another woman said with obvious adoration on her face.

Shuurei sighed. Why are these girls chasing Ryuuki? Moreover why are they totally neglecting her? They are acting as if they only saw Ryuuki standing there in front of them. She narrowed her eyes at him.

''Do not look at me with like that. I feel like you are saying I did something wrong. By the way, let's run for it,'' Ryuuki said and pulled Shuurei along again as he ran. Shuuei and Kouyou trailed behind the trees.

''How did I end up being dragged into this,'' Shuurei sweat-dropped.

''I'll explain later. Safety comes first.''

Shuurei ran as fast as she could and Ryuuki had to slow down a bit to match her pace. They turned to another corner and saw another bunch of women ready to ambush them and so they had to go to another direction. It seemed almost endless. In every turn they kept being followed and chased. They got cornered in a dead end and Ryuuki had no choice but to carry a panting Shuurei. She lifted her in a lover's carry without warning and dashed as fast as he could. His fear of being caught by those women gave him energy to run so fast that Shuurei could almost say she thought he was flying. He kept turning from street to street, alley to alley until when he was sure that no one has tailed them.

Ryuuki then ran to the trees nearby as his final turn. He settled Shuurei on the grasses as he slumped down beside her and panted. ''I never thought I would be this scared from a bunch of girls,'' he managed to say with his ragged breathing.

Shuuei and Kouyou are also panting as they finally found where Ryuuki run to and catch up to them. ''That was fast,'' Shuuei remarked. ''And confusing,'' Kouyuu added. If not for Shuuei, Kouyuu would have been lost again.
