                               Late June 2014
God, I don't know why I even signed up for summer school. Especially since it's at the new high school I'm attending. It's so big here. Why is it so big? It's just high school, I mean I get college, but high school??
It's so crowded, I didn't expect people needed summer school this much. I'm just here because I don't have anything else to do this summer, well besides my cousins flying in from Ohio this summer. That's not for another couple weeks though, so hopefully this will keep me busy.
I spot a familiar face by the drama room, it's  Katrina. We've known each other since kindergarten but didn't really grow close until the 6th grade. I can honestly consider her my best friend. We don't normally call each other that, we think it's an annoying word. 'Best friend' that word doesn't have much meaning nowadays, but we both know we're each other's bestfriends. So I guess that's okay.
Katrina is honestly one of the only reasons I signed up, she put me up for it. I don't blame her, we never see each other in the summers. We're both busy with our families, so I'm glad I at least get to see her at summer school for a month, than not seeing her at all.
I greet Katrina and I notice another old friend is with her. It's Penelope.
We're all waiting for our classes, which is the second period class. Which starts at 10:10 and ends at 12:40. The huge crowd of kids finally clears up. Most of them are in the first period summer school class.
We're waiting until our classes start, and there's nothing to do. I mean nothing. All we did was walk around our new school. Since our old one got shut down due to district budget cuts. At least we're only incoming juniors. We'll spend half of our high school experience at this new school.
Finally 10 more minutes before our class starts, and I now just realize I don't have my class with anyone I know. Great. I try to do something good for myself, like try to get some extra school credit and I'm not even paired with anyone I know. Not even one person.
5 more minutes before class starts and still sign of no one.
I'm leaning against the class railway, and I see this somewhat handsome guy. He's tall, but skinny. He's kind of pale. His hair is in a somewhat quiff. Ugh. It's Shawn Mendes. He grew up a little bit from the last time I saw him.
I saw him about a little bit over a month ago. We had a picnic together some other friends and with my boyfriend Jack, which is his best friend. Well one of his best friends, Jack's actual best friend is Jack Johnson. Anyways, it's weird since Shawn and I never speak, except for that one time I made a joke and he thought it was pretty funny and he laughed for a good 10 minutes.
I guess he's cool, I mean girls always talk about his "soft brown eyes" and his "signature smirk". I don't get the hype, from the times I have spoken to him, it didn't seem like he was Mr. Personality. He was immature and laughed at the dumbest jokes. You know how some people talk about being " a kid at heart"? He is actually a kid at heart. A freaking child that still makes fart noises and draws penises all over the desks. Yeah he's one of those guys. As childish as he is, he's not necessarily a bad guy so he shouldn't be a bother.
(Hey guys I know the first chapter isn't so great, but trust me! Keep reading! It'll only get better. I just suck at beginnings. Trust me it actually gets pretty interesting haha :) -G.)
