As I'm walking up to the mini van, I noticed Jack finally took this damn car out for a wash. He hates doing stuff like that.
I haven't seen Jack in 2 weeks so seeing him after long periods of time makes me feel a bit nervous for some reason. We've been dating for over a year, I don't know why I still get nervous around him.
At least I don't get super nervous around him, not like the first time we spoke to each other. God, that was a disaster. Well I was the disaster, he was totally calm and chill about it.
The memories of our beginning start flashing in my mind as I step inside and sit on the passenger seat.
*Flashback to early April 2013*
Look at Kaylee go, looks like she's in a rush to get to class. I can see the anticipation showing on her face. Wait. She's heading my direction...oh God. Eh, this shouldn't be a big deal, she probably just has another boyfriend. She is one of the prettiest girls in school. She's had seniors, juniors, sophomores, and of course our fellow freshman had to come in. She literally turns heads when she walks in to classes. I mean you'd expect a girl like that to attract.
She's the perfect height for tall boys which is 5'5, she has these grayish-green eyes, long blonde hair, acne free skin. I repeat. Acne free skin. I'd kill for that. I don't break out often, but when I do it gets bad. She doesn't have to worry about that. Like I said she is physically flawless.
She's so much more than a pretty face, and that's what a lot of guys have trouble seeing. That's also one of the reasons she's always in and out of relationships. Most guys assume the reason she's been in so many relationships is because she's given those past relationships certain things. If you know what I mean. She actually hasn't. She's a really good person with a kind heart, that gets taken for granted by many guys. Anyways, Kaylee is getting closer. I should probably get ready to listen.
"AMELIA!" She squeals.
"Hey Kaylee. What are you so excited about this time? Is it another senior again?" I say.
"No. This time I actually have something that involves you!"
"Which is?"
"Guess!"
"Um, it's about me? Okay. Well um. Does it involve someone else?"
"Yes!"
"Um is that other pers-" Her excitement cuts me off.
"I can't take it anymore! Jack Gilinsky thinks you're cute!!"
"Wait what?? Seriously? Are you sure it's Gilinsky?"
"I sit next to him in art, and he said your name loud and clear!"
"He said it with a smirk too." Kaylee adds.
"Well then again, he probably thinks a lot of girls are cute so I shouldn't get my hopes up." I respond.
"You didn't let me finish! He said that he's always wanted to talk to you, but feels like you're gonna blow him off."
"Me? Blow him off? Blow Jack Gilinsky off? I'm the one that's worrying about him blowing ME off!"
"Yeah I know!"
"What do I do? Just wait for him to make a move?"
"Wait aren't you close friends with Johnson?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Tell him to hook you and Jack up!"
"Eh I don't know. We're good friends, I don't want him to think I'm just using him to get to his best friend."
"Johnson is too sweet to ever think that of you. Just talk it out with him, and find out what he can do for you."
"Fine, but don't tell anyone about this. Not yet. Things always get twisted around when everyone finds out and then they just make it in to a really ugly rumor." I say.
"I swear to you I won't tell anyone....yet." She said with a slight giggle.
"Go to class. I have Johnson this period, and I'm going to have to catch him up on all of this."
"Bye!!"
I spot Johnson already in his desk getting his supplies out.
"Nice glasses, Amy." He says.
"Shut up, I only use them for class."
"Everyone loves a beautiful pair of 4 eyes."
"I bet Gilinsky doe-" I stop myself. Crap.
"What are you talking about?" He looks shocked too.
"Wait.." He whispers.
"Okay class. Today we will be going over some of our nation's history, such as the civil war, The Declaration of Independence, and much, much more." As Mr. Burke continues, I turn to my left and try to talk to Johnson.
"How long have you known?" I whisper.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know something that I don't."
"I don't know anything. I don't know why you always assume I know what everyone is talking about."
"If you didn't know what I was talking about, then why are you getting so defensive?"
"I'm not getting defensive, I'm just trying to clear things up for you."
"So you're saying that you know nothing about your best friend's interests?"
"I wouldn't say that."
"You know something. Just give it up already. I'm not going to tell him." He looks around to make sure nobody is listening to our conversation.
"Okay. I may know he has a slight crush on you."
"A crush?! I know he thinks I'm attractive, but I didn't know he has a crush on me? Are you serious?"
"Yeah I'm serious. Don't say anything about it. He gets weird when it comes to feelings and stuff."
"I promise you I won't."
"How do I get his attention?" I add on.
"You already have his attention, you need to actually talk to him."
"I don't know. I'll get nervous."
"How about you come by to our group tomorrow during lunch and I'll introduce you to each other."
"That sounds a lot less exhausting, I'm up for it." I say in an excited tone.
"Please don't leave me alone with him, I don't want to look like an idiot in front of him."
"Don't worry, once you spark some of your 'lady jazz' on to him, you'll want me out of your way." He says while chuckling.
"Lady Jazz? Really?" I say while slapping his arm.
This school year is gonna be interesting.
*Back to Late June 2014*
I remember that day so perfectly. I remember the excitement. The feeling. All the butterflies I felt.
"Babe?"
"Yeah?"
"I've missed you." Jack says with a grin.
