                             Amelia's POV
"Well, I'm just glad you ended it. You don't have time for a boy like that, actually you don't have time for boys at all this upcoming school year." My mom says to me while we're on the way to Costco.
"I know, mom." I mutter. Please, don't start.
"You know this is your most important year yet, leaving a boy behind will only make you more focused." She rambles on.
"You have to remember that you can't just mess around this year. For example; your sophomore year your GPA was a 3.0. You had a 3.0 for both semesters, Amy. You can't just slack off this school year. This isn't just another insignificant year. This year counts. Colleges and Universities are going to examine everything you do right, and everything you do wrong. We're hoping that you're going to be doing a lot more rights this year." My dad says as he decides to join my mom. I decide to put my headphones on and start listening to my music. I click a playlist and put it on shuffle. I look out the window and just start listening.
Coincidentally, 'Under the Bridge' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers comes up. I remember the last time I listened to this song, I was out with Shawn. We were on our way to ihop that night. I remember he refused to sing along. I look down and just smile to myself.
Once I look back up, I realize that we just parked in the Costco parking lot. I take my headphones out and start unbuckling my seatbelt. I get out of the car and wait for my family to follow through. We get a shopping cart and start heading in.
I'm pushing the cart while my parents are putting items in. I hate pushing the cart, especially when both of my younger sisters are in it. They just make it even heavier. If they were in the cart or not, I still don't want to be pushing the cart in the first place. I want to go around the Costco and eat a bunch of free samples. That's probably the only reason why I even came here, just to get free samples. I also wanted to come because I always like to check out the novel section.
"Dad, can I please walk around and get some samples? It'll be quick." My dad turns around as he's lifting the box of diapers that are meant for my sister. He looks at me for a few seconds and says "Okay, just make it quick." As he finishes himself, he sets the diapers on to the cart and starts pushing it towards the next aisle.
I walk around the frozen foods section and find out that they're giving free ravioli samples. As I walk towards the sample stand, I realize that there is one sample left. I try reaching for it, but someone beat me to it. Dammit. I look up and see that it was Cameron. His face is bruised up. He has the worst black eye, his bottom lip is swollen, and is that stitches on his left eyebrow? He looks at me, but doesn't say anything. He looks kind of startled by the sight of me.
"Cam..hey!" I say, while I go for a hug. He hugs me back, but very hesitantly.
  "Hi, Amy."
"What happened to your face??" I say loudly. I notice that the whole aisle turned around and looked at us right after I said that. Whoops.
"Sorry about that. Let's walk?" I ask him. He nods and starts walking while eating his ravioli sample.
"So about your face?" I ask.
"It's nothing. Just football practice." He laughs.
"Football practice causes that much? I thought you guys wore helmets or something." I say.
"We do, but sometimes they don't completely block out all of the punch-" he stops for a second.
"Sometimes they just don't block out all of the tackles." He responds.
"Are you still playing with Jack? I know you heard about the break up." Why did I just act that? You're supposed to be getting over him, Amelia.
  "Yeah, we still play."
"Have you guys talked lately?" Stop it. Don't interrogate him.
"Not really." He shakes his head.
"Why is that? You guys were somewhat close." I ask.
"It's better off like that. We have lives, Amy. I can't just hang around Jack all the time." I can tell he's getting pissed off for some reason, so I just let it go.
"Well, I'm sorry for bringing it up then." He says.
"It's okay. I'm sorry for saying it that way. I didn't mean it like that, I'm just having an off week."
"No it's fine, I totally get you."
"Well I have to go, I guess I'll see you around. I hope you enjoyed your ravioli sample." I laugh and wave. He laughs and then says "I did, thanks for mentioning it." He says with a wide smile.
  "Bye."
  "Bye."
I head on back to the aisle that my parents were at and just carry on with running errands.
As we walk around the whole place, we finally get to the cashiers and pay.
While we're paying my phone buzzes. I pull it out of my back pocket and check my notifications. I got a text from Shawn.
  SM: watcha up to?
Me: I'm just at Costco, running errands with my family, you?"
SM: are you almost done? And nothing. I'm bored. Wrestling practices ended a couple days ago, so I don't have anything to do lol
Me: yeah, we're just paying. And aww that sucks. Now you can't be surrounded by guys in tight suits. I'm sure you miss that lmaaao
SM: seeing myself in that suit? Heck yeah. I was killing it
Me: sure you were. I'm just glad I wasn't there to see any of that.
SM: it's not for everyone to see, it's a privilege
  Me: Ewww. Just stop talking
SM: are u sure about tht? So I'm guessing you wouldn't want me asking you to the movies tonight since u don't want me talkin to u
  Me: lmao ur bluffing
I put my phone down and wait for my parents to finish paying.
Once they're done, we start walking to the car and start loading our groceries in to the trunk. Before I started loading things in, I check my phone. No messages. Is he really serious? What a loser. I start typing up another text.
Me: ur lucky I want to go to the movies.
  SM: thought so
  Me: what time?
SM: 8? I'll pick you up at 7:30
  Me: what movie?
SM: we'll see when get there
Me: okay, but it better be a good
SM: getting to go to the movies with me is already good enough pssshhhh
Me: lol ok. I'll see you in an hour or so
As I start loading things in, I realize that I'm actually looking forward to going to the movies. I'm not sure what I look forward to more, the movie or the food we'll eat after the movie.
This is going to be my first time officially going out ever since the break up happened. And I think that this is also the first time Shawn has gone out ever since his "uncle's" passing. I know it's his dad's friend, but I refer to him as his uncle. Seems like he was. Either way, we both need this. I think it'll be good for us.
