Chapter 19

Taylor's P.O.V.

Shannon L. Alder once said the most intriguing people you will encounter in this life are the people who had insights about you, that you didn't know about yourself

"Her name was Jessica Coleman, she was suppose to testify in a burglary tomorrow. She was 7 years old" Antonio informed the team

Hank exhaled "Okay, let's head back to the district and work on this for awhile then go home and get some rest. We're gonna have a busy day tomorrow"

Everyone nodded and silently left. Antonio grabbed his phone and dialed Taylor's number. It rang and rang but went to voicemail

After I walked out of security I grabbed my things and began walking to the door. I noticed I had a voicemail from Antonio. I waited till I got in my car till I listened to it

"Hey Taylor, I'm sorry but we got called into a case and it's pretty bad. We have to work a couple hours at the district and Mouse decided to go in so you don't have to. Listen baby I'm sorry to cancel our date, but tomorrow I will make it up to you tomorrow, bye"

I smiled to myself after saying he'd make it up to me. I turned over the ignition and began to drive home. I couldn't stop thinking about Antonio all the way home. It's been almost 3 months since we've been together, and we've been with each other everyday since. And to be honest, I'm falling for him I mean I'm really falling in love with him

By the next day I parked on the side of the district. Today is my day off and even though the team had a case they needed to solve Mouse had a hold of what we do. I only had to drop off some files for Mouse in a pen drive. I began walking on the sidewalk passed the squad cars towards the front door

"Excuse me" I heard a voice behind me

I stopped and turned around "I don't think we've properly met, I'm Laura" She said approaching me and sticking out her hand "I'm Antonio's ex-wife"

I hesitated but shook her hand "I'm Taylor, Halstead"

"Halstead? I didn't know Jay had a sister" We let our hands go

"Yea, it's a long story"

I felt as if she was studying me by the way she was looking at me "So what's the story between you and Antonio?" She crossed her arms

"Uh, we work together"

"Okay" She said moving her shoulders up at the same time "Well Antonio and I are probably going to get back together so, just so you know" She turned her back and with that she was gone around the corner

I slowly turned around and continued walking "Bitch" I whispered under my breath

After walking in I walked straight to Platt's desk "Hey, do me a favor and give this to Mouse please. These are the files he needed"

"They're not busy you know, you can go up and give it to him yourself"

I faked a smile "I'm not in the mood right now, please just give this to him"

She nodded "Okay I will"

I turned around and walked away "Morning Taylor" Burgess greeted as she walked through the door with Roman
