Veronica Roth once said fear doesn't shut you down; it wakes you up
Taylor's P.O.V.
One week later
(I'm sorry I'm skipping to one week later but this is where things really get interesting!)
My shoes heavily fell on the sidewalk as I made my way to the main doors of the district. My phone rang yet again and I looked at the ID. I slid my finger to answer it and held it against my ear
"Hello"
There was no one talking but I could hear breathing in the other end
"You really have to stop calling me Mason. I'm serious just please stop" I hung up before he could say anything; if he even would've. I quickly walked up the steps fearing he was close by. I was now surrounded by police officers and somewhat felt safe. I made my way upstairs then to my desk.
I noticed Mouse sitting at his desk "Hey, can I ask a favor?"
He looked up at me and nodded "Sure"
"Can you get me anything you can on someone named Mason Campbell"
He stood up "Yea no problem"
I thanked him as he walked away. No one knew about anything yet but I think it was time I tell someone. I sat at my desk and hung my head down while put my hands over my head. I closed my eyes only for second until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped so high to see Jay standing over me
"Are you alright?" He asked in a serious tone looking at me concerned
I looked at him wanting to nod my head but I only stood up "I need to talk to Voight. And you"
Instead of asking questions he simply nodded and we both walked over to Voight's office. The only people there so far was Olinsky but he was mind his own business at his desk. I knocked at Voight's door
"Yea come on in" He spoke in his husky voice
I opened the door while Jay and I walked in and I closed the door behind me "I need to talk to you" I said
Voight held his hand out to his two seats in front of his desk
"I'd rather stand" I said
"Yea me too" Jay said crossing his arms over his chest and focusing on me
I took a deep breath before I spoke up "Around a week ago when there was the bombing I helped dig; I found someone. The next day he came by the station and dropped off some chocolates for me; as a thank you. Then later that evening Jay and I went to the store, he got a call and I kept walking. I turned a corner from the aisle and I had a view to the outside, and there he was. Mason was standing there on the sidewalk staring at me with a weird creepy smirk. It freaked me out but it didn't stop there. This entire week I've gotten phone calls from him, he won't leave me alone. I feel like he's everywhere"
"How many times have you gotten these phone calls?" Voight asked
"I lost count but so many times during the week"
I turned to look at Jay and he wasn't upset but something inside him ignited
"Alright, well-" Voight began to say but then Mouse knocked on the door
"Hi" Mouse said while opening the door "I don't mean to interrupt but I ran the name of Mason Campbell" He walked in
"Yea I was just telling them about him" I said
"Yea well first off his name isn't Mason. I give you Hunter Johnson" He took out a photo from a folder and placed it on Voight's desk "He changed his name after coming from North Carolina, where he was arrested multiple times for possession, stalking, and attempted murder" He took out another photo of his mug shot, he looked different
My eyes slightly widen "He was considered very armed and dangerous, also I checked the phone record and I don't know if you wanted to know but he's called you about 200 times in this last week" Mouse said finishing
My breath caught up to me "So this Mason or Hunter person is really stalking me" I said
"Were putting you under protective custody until we get this guy" Voight said
I exhaled "Yea. Thanks Sarge" I turned and walked out with Jay
That entire day passed and yet they hadn't found him. By the end of the day I walked into Voight's office
"Since we have yet to find this guy your going to be staying with Antonio. He's my best detective and he will make sure no harm comes to you" He spoke
My eyes nearly fell to the ground "Why can't I just stay at Jay's? He's my brother and he will make sure no harm comes to me"
He gave me a stern look but I stood my ground "Your staying with Antonio, end of discussion. Jay's downstairs he'll give you a ride"
I swallowed and nodded my head "Alright" I said caving in. I turned around and walked downstairs passed the empty desks. I met Jay downstairs and we hopped in the car
"I don't understand why I can't just stay at your place" I said with a sigh as he turned over the ignition and took off
"Well I can give you two reasons" He said turning to look at me for a second
I lifted my elbow and rested it on the window "I don't get it I mean Antonio knows about this crazy stalker and yet he didn't talk to me all day. He didn't say anything at all" I leaned my head in my hand that was resting on the window "Maybe he just moved on" I mumbled
"There's one thing I know for sure. Antonio hasn't moved on. You'll be fine, he'll keep you safe"
"Yea is it hard to believe it's not the stalker I'm afraid of" I said while staring straight forward
Not soon after we got to Antonio's place and Jay parked the car in front
"Call me before you go to sleep alright?" He said looking at me
I took a deep breath while I looked at Jay "Will do" I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. I opened the car door and climbed off the car. I shut it behind me and made my way to the door. After getting to the door I picked up my hand to knock but it opened while I was halfway there.
