Holding On

Chapter 28

Taylor's P.O.V.

"You did what?!" I exclaimed while I moved my hands to my hips

He seemed to be taking it funny because he let out a soft chuckle "I'm sorry I had to"

"This isn't funny Jay, you just make things possibly way worse"

We had gotten back from New York yesterday; this morning we had work but Jay came early to my house so we could talk about what he wanted to tell me, which was this

"I know I'm sorry but, I don't like what he did" His expression changed to a serious face "He broke your heart"

I sighed "Yea part of it was my fault"

"Yea but no one was suppose to know about that. He broke up with you not the other way around"

I scratched my forehead "Yea, well what's done is done. And now things between us are probably gonna be awkward because of what you did"

"I know and I'm sorry. I just don't like what he did"

I stayed silent for a couple seconds "Come on, let's get to work" I grabbed my jacket and keys while I opened the door

He gave me a look but walked out "Alright" I walked out and locked my house behind me

We left for work and shortly arrived. Jay and I walked in and headed upstairs, as soon as we did my heart was pounding. My eyes moved straight to Antonio's desk but found an empty chair. I softly sighed in relief, but it's only the morning. I walked to my desk and wondered where Mouse was, I remember seeing his car this morning. I hopped up and made my way to the surveillance room. After I got there I noticed him sitting on his chair

"Hey" I said as I walked through the door and sat on the other chair next to him

"Hey, how was New York?"

I shrugged my shoulders "The same. Thank god your here, I don't want to go back upstairs"

"Why not?" He asked grabbing his water and taking a sip

"Because, I know Antonio will get here soon and I don't want to face him"

He leaned his back on his chair "Well, I don't know what happened but you do have to face him sometime"

"We broke up" I flat out told him "Because I'm a liar who keeps secrets even though they should stay secrets"

He stayed silent while making a silent okay face "Well he's gotta forgive you" He finally spoke "The guys crazy for you"

I sighed "Yea, I'm hoping he will. I feel like I'm in high school. All depressed because my long time boyfriend broke up with me" I leaned back on the chair for a second then looked back up

He let out a soft chuckle "Well I could talk to him if you want" He suggested

I smiled a quick smile at him "Thanks Mouse but-"

"Hey" Jay said knocking at the door and popping his head in "We need you guys up here"

Mouse nodded at him and he left. I gave Mouse a look and stood up "Time to face the music" I announced. He chuckled "I got your back"

I smiled at him as we left back into the main room. As soon as we walked in I walked over to my desk with my head down. Just as soon as I picked it up my head to look at Antonio our eyes met. I took a hard swallow but we both looked away when Voight began to talk

"Today is going to be a hard day. But I need every single one of you focused. We've got a bombing that just happened about ten minutes ago"

"How do we know it's not accidental?" Adam asked

I looked at him when he did but turned back to Voight

"Because five minutes ago another one just went off not far from the first one" He explained

"Could be terrorist, or just someone who hates the world" I spoke up

Voight had his hands in his pockets, he nodded very slowly at least I think it was a nod "Gear up, even you two" He said point at me and Mouse "We're gonna need you today, you're riding with us"

Everyone began to disburse as we all headed down to the what I like to call basement which also was the surveillance room. Mouse and I helped each other put on the bulletproof vest. Just as soon as we walked to the front of the district it was chaos. The phones were ringing off the hook and everyone was everywhere. I looked over at Platt and it looked like she wanted to tear someones head off. We all left and not soon after arrived at the scene. It was horrid, people were everywhere, debris was everywhere.

Voight and the rest of the team approached Boden while Mouse and I stayed behind

"Damn" Mouse said

I looked around and saw Kelly helping someone and talking to them. I ran over to him "Hey, what happened?"

He stood up with the lady and put her arm around his "They were having a charity fundraiser for the children's hospital when I bomb went off from an empty car. About 5 minutes later another bomb just a couple cars down" He was explaining while we walked to one ambo. He let her go with the other two paramedics

"Any word on how many injured so far?" I asked

He looked at me "About 4 dead and a dozen injured" but there are still people trapped underneath" He was wearing his beanie and of course his firefighter uniform "Find whoever did this"

I turned around when I heard Mouse call me "We will" I said as I turned back to him "Take it easy" I tapped his shoulder as I turned around and walked away "What's up?"

"They need an extra set of hands, while the team finds out information we gotta help out"

I nodded my head "Okay, let's go" I looked around and began walking to the rubble to help dig

I kept digging and digging lifting heavy rocks. I heard a small groan coming from next to me on the right, everyone else that was digging was on my left. I moved and began to dig out rocks until I saw a guy

He groaned again and looked at me "Oh thank god"

"I'm gonna get you out" There we're only a couple more rocks. It took most of me to get them out but I finally did. After getting the last one off I helped him up, it looked like he had only an injury on his leg

"Come on" I said as I put his arm around me and we left to an ambulance. Once we made it I sat him on the back

"Thank you" He said looking up at me with a hint of a smile

I nodded at him "You welcome" I was kind of getting a weird vibe off of him. I then turned around and walked back to the rubble. My eyes wouldn't come off the Antonio as he was talking to Boden
