***SMUT WARNING***

We didn't say a word to each other, we just walked. I knew my way around here so we wouldn't get lost. Our hands brushed together once in a while, making my heart jump a little. The silence was oddly comfortable. I felt like there was no one else in the world but us. Sometimes a twig creaked, and we heard tiny creatures flying around or crawling on the ground.

The moon wasn't bright, it was a foggy night, not especially beautiful like in all those romance novels. It was normal, or well it wasn't since I was walking with a guy I had thought of as weird for so long and now really liked. If it was freezing I wouldn't have noticed since my heart was warmed every time I looked at him.

Just after 15 minutes of walking we arrived at the lake. I sat down, Troye did the same. We sat there in silence, not feeling the need to talk. I scooted a bit closer to him, he did the same. Our arms were touching and our hands slightly met. I looked at him, he was looking up at the sky with a smile covering his face. A spark in his eyes. It made the icy wind not cut as hard, and the cold ground didn't feel as cold anymore.

'Why are you smiling?' I asked, breaking the silence. He turned his head to me and looked me in my eyes.

'Why do you ask? Am I not allowed to smile?' he responded with a challenging look on his face.

'No , I like it when you smile, I was just wondering why.' I replied. His eyes lit up and I could swear he was blushing.

'When I was little I used to write letters to the moon, to tell her I loved her. It's a bit silly, but that's what I was smiling about' he explained, looking at the ground and fumbling with his fingers. I smiled, he looked cute when he was embarrassed. But he looked cute a lot.

'Do you still have those letters?'

'No, one day I went to the beach. Since the moon is responsible for the changing tide I thought she would take my letters with her if I threw them in at the right time.' He explained, a timid smile on his face again. His eyes still gleaming. Then, I felt a raindrop hitting my nose. I looked up at the sky, I felt another one, and another.

'I forgot it was December' I mumbled.

'What were you thinking about then?' He asked.

'You' I said casually, like it was the most ordinary thing in the world to say. I wasn't in the mood to hide my feelings. Not now for sure, when I was with him, just him, by a lake in the middle of the night. He smiled. Everything about that moment made me believe in magic. It was surreal.

Soon, more raindrops were falling from the pitch black sky above us, the moonlight made a blurry pattern in them, like lightbubbles when you're underwater. The raindrops seemed to take the moonlight with them as they fell down. I stuck my tongue out, wanting to catch some of that light. It tickled on my tongue.

I looked over at Troye, the moon illuminating his eyes like they were the earth. And for a moment, I saw hope, I saw hope in the boy's ocean blue eyes. His worries ceased to exist, a moment for him only. His eyes shining brighter than any star beneath the moonlight. The look in his eyes made me vulnerable. I hated it, but I loved it at the same time.

The raindrops became more frequent with every second, I saw a flash of lightning in the distance.

'Fuck' I groaned. 'We have to go back' and we had to be fast. I took the boy's hand without thinking about it twice and we started running. In 3 minutes we were back at the tents. He ran fast for someone with migraine.

Troye unzipped our entrance and he went in our tent firs, raindrops were dripping on his face from his curls, he pulled a hand through his hair. It looked sexy. Our hands hadn't let go of each other. I heard thunder, a shiver sent down my spine. I crawled in our tent as well, my eyes still focused on Troye. He looked back at me and our eyes met. My heart skipped a beat. The pounding rain was bludgeoning out a tempo of madness, as was my heart.
