I sat in the dark, wrapped in the silk sheets of the beautiful hotel in Honolulu.
Steven wasn't by my side, which is probably why I couldn't sleep.
I've been rolling around for the past 3 hours, trying to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.
I've also been trying to wrap my head around whatever song was stuck in my heart, refusing to come out.
Where's Steven?
He's sitting by the grandiose piano that's in the living area of our lavishly decorated hotel villa.
He was playing this hauntingly beautiful, light rocking melody, that sent shivers up my spine, and gave life to a song hidden in my soul.
I got out of bed and made my way through the villa, sitting down next to him on the laquered bench.
He never tore his gaze from the piano; he sat there, continuing to play the beauitful melody.
Almost as if they were written and practiced, and written and practiced again, lyrics flowed from me.
"Can you be my nightengale?
Sing to me, I know you're there.
You could be my sanity
Bring me peace
Sing me to sleep
Say you'll be my nightengale."
It was so raw, so organic, so natural with Steven. Writting songs came so easily when I was around him.
"Shit..." He stopped playing and stared at me in amazement. "Did you just think of that?"
"I...I..." I stuttered, amazed at myself even, for coming up with them on the spot. "Yeah..."
"That's fucking good, babe!" He laughed quietly enough that he wouldn't wake up Alaska who was sleeping in the next room. he ran his hands along the ivory, urging me to continue. "Don't stop!"
"I've never seen the forest or the trees
I could really use your melodies
Baby, I'm a little blind
I think it's time for you to find me."
I don't know what I'd do without you
Your words are like a whisper coming through
As long as you're here with me tonight,
I'm good."
I sang softly, resting my head on Steven's shoulder, as he continued to play.
When he noticed that I couldn't come up with anything else, he slowly stopped playing and rested his head ontop of mine.
"That was amazing." He sighed lightly.
"I had to pay you back for writing me a lullaby..." I chuckled a little. "So, I guess this one is yours."
He lifted his head off of mine, and then tilted my chin up so he could plant a soft kiss on my lips.
"You're literally the perfect person. I really do love you." He smiled before kissing me.
When we pulled apart, I rested my head on his shoulder once again, shutting my eyes briefly.
I felt music flowing through me once again, but since I don't know how to play, I decided to sing accapella, until Steven caught on.
"I can't sleep tonight;
I'm wide awake and so confused.
Evertything's in line,
But I'm bruised.
I need a voice to echo
I need a light to take me home
I kinda need a hero
Is it you?"
I smiled up at him, holding his gaze.
"Always, Babe." He smiled kissing my forehead. "Let's get some sleep."
He stood up, pulling me up with him.
We slowly made our way to the bedroom, and entangled ourselves in the silk sheets; being lulled to sleep by the soft rhythm of our synchronized breathing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes fluttered open as streaks of morning light pooled in through the open window of the master bedroom. A light ocean breeze blew the white curtains through the room, which allowed more light to shine through.
Steven's arms were coiled around me, and he was lightly snoring. I carefully got up, so I wouldn't wake him, and I picked up Alaska, craddling her in my arms.
I went to fix her a bottle of formula from the kitchen, which took me a few minutes.
"Goodmorning, my sweet baby girl." I smiled, kissing her little button nose, as I walked out to the living room area, and plopped down on the brown leather couch. "We have the day off today... What would you want to do?"
"You..."
I glanced up from my baby girl to find Steven leaning up against the door frame of the bedroom, with a smirk on his perfect lips.
"Steven... There's a baby here... No dirty talk." I chuckled, winking.
I began to feed Alaska, when Steven sat down next to me.
"Can...Can I do it?" He asked, fear almost audible in his voice.
"Of course, Baby." I smiled handing him the baby ever so carefully.
Once Alaska was craddled in his arms, I handed him the baby bottle and showed him how to feed her.
He held her so delicately, and the love that was shining in his eyes brought me to tears.
This was one of the most beautiful moments I've ever seen.
I figured I would give Steven some time to bond with his baby girl because he hadn't had much, so I went to go shower.
"Wait, Mia... Where are you going?" Steven asked, almost worried.
"I'm going to shower." I smiled, blowing him a kiss. "I figured you and Alaska should have some time together. Just don't forget to burp her when you're done feeding her."
With that, I strode out of the room, and headed for the white marble bathroom.
I stripped out of my panties and t-shirt, and stepped under the warm waterfall that was cascading down and into the drain.
I thought more about singing with Steven last night, and it hit me like a ton of bricks; That song... That was what was waiting to come out of me for a while now. That was what I was talking about with Ryan on the plane yesterday.
I quickly scrubbed myself raw, washing my hair, and shaving as best I could. When I was finished, I sprinted out of the shower, and wrapped a towel around myself, and I let my stringy hair cascade down to my waist, drying naturally.
As I walked out of the bathroom and through the bedroom, I was about to call out to Steven, when I stopped at the doorframe. I leaned against the white painted wood of the frame, and watched Steven and Alaska.
He was sitting on the piano bench, with little Ali on his lap; lightly pressing her fingers on the ivory of the keys, "teaching" her to play the piano.
He was singing her my lullaby.
For a moment, he paused to kiss the top of her head.
"You know, little gypsy, I wrote that song for your Mama." He smiled down at her, as she returned his gaze, and looked at him with gorgeous chrystal blue eyes. "I love her more than anything in the world... With the exception of you, Gypsy Blue."
He smiled again and resumed playing, singing to her softly.
The moment was too perfect for me to ruin it, so I continued watching them, with a stupid smile plastered across my face.
When the song was finished, he craddled Alaska in his arms and stood up from the piano bench.
Steven's eyes instantly caught mine, and an adorably embarrassed smile slowly spread across his lips.
"That was amazing..." I stared in amazement at my perfect husband.
His cheeks flushed a rosey red, and all he could do was smile down at the child in his arms, and kiss her forehead.
Steven walked up to me, and looked down into my eyes, only to smirk and seal our lips together in the most passionate kiss I've ever experienced with him.
Fireworks like I've never seen before, exploded through my closed eyelids, and my heart fluttered around.
We broke apart moments later, and without a word, Steven walked towards the crib placing Alaska in it.
Though I was still gasping for air from our breathtaking kiss, he was calm, cool, and collected.
He strolled by me, and grasped my hand, pulling me along with him.
Without a word, he sat down on the leather couch, and pulled me onto his lap, so I was straddling him.
His chocolate eyes were screaming nothing short of "I love you", which sent shivers up my spine, knowing he felt the same way. I leaned in and locked our lips together once again, as Steven pulled the towel off of my body, leaving me completely exposed.
He ran his hands along my curves, and pulled me in close to him, so there was absolutely no space between us. My chest was glued to his torso... Without a milimeter to spare.
Steven flipped me over, so I was now lying on the couch, with him hovering inches above me.
He pulled his black v-neck t-shirt off over his head, as I went to work on his jeans.
I unbuckled his belt, and very slowly unzipped the denim, never taking my gaze off of his.
With a loud clank, his belt buckle hit the marble floor, and he was just as exposed as I was.
He smirked and thrusted into me, as a gasp escaped both of our lips.
Faster and faster, we climbed higher and higher together; ready to jump off the cliff of pleasure, hand in hand.
Somehow, we ended up on the floor behind the couch, which came in handy because we heard the door suddenly opened and two pairs of footsteps.
"Oh, fuck!" I leaned down and whispered to Steven. "Someone's in here!"
"Joe!" Steven yelled from behind the couch. "Dude! Get out!"
Though we couldn't been seen, I definitely didn't want others to see Steven and I like this... This was our personal time.
I poked my head up from behind the couch to find, Joe and Gavin, strolling through our front door.
"Guys! Get the fuck out! Oh my god! Don't you knock?!" Steven's head was poking out from behind the side of the couch, so we were both able to see what was going on.
Joe rolled his eyes, laughing. Gavin at first was shocked, but then a tiny smirk danced across his pale lips, as his silver eyes dug holes into me.
"Joe, jesus fucking christ, knock next time!" I screeched, pulling my head back down to Steven's chest so they... well, so Gavin... couldn't see me.
"Fuck, when are you two not going at it?! You're like fucking rabbits..." Joe laughed, turning around and grabbing Gavin's arm, leading him out of the room. "Just come find us when you're done."
"Okay, now get the fuck out!" Steven, rolled his eyes, laughing as they slammed the door behind them, leaving Steven and I alone once again. He returned his gaze to me, with a smile on his lips. "Now, where were we?... Oh... I remember."
He teased me, coaxing my lips open so his tongue could slither in and explore all the areas of my mouth.
He thrusted faster and faster until we dove, hand in hand, off the cliff and into the warm waters of Venus.
With a final thrust and a long, loud moan, I collapsed on top of him, resting my head in the crook of his neck; his heartbeat was extremely audible, and was acting like a lullaby.
"I love you..." I smiled, kissing his neck lightly.
"I love you so much more." He chuckled a bit, tracing my spine with a single finger, raising goosebumps along my skin.
We laid there for ages, just talking and laughing, and falling even more in love with each other than we already had.
"Steven...?" I sighed, pushing myself up, so I was once again straddling him.
"Mmm?" He moaned incoherently.
"Should we go see what they wanted?" I asked, resting my hands on his bare chest.
"No... How about we stay here... Just like this." He smiled, putting his hands on top of mine.
"For all the rest of time?" I smirked, making a joke of his lyrics.
"That's it..." He laughed, rolling over so he was now on top of me, pressing his body against me. "Don't do that... I wrote those from the heart."
"And what are you gonna do about it?" I chuckled, gazing into his chocolate pools of wonder.
"This..." He grinned as he leaned down and kissed me.
I managed to roll over, so I was once again on top of him.
"Oh, no you're not..." I pulled out of the kiss, and quickly got off of him, giggling as I ran off to the bedroom where my suitcase was.
I changed into the same white bikini that I wore when Steven and I went surfing at our wedding, and put on a flowy white maxi skirt over it. I slipped on my denim button up with the sleeves cut off and the sinch tie at the midriff. Because my hair dried naturally, it had these beautiful beach waves, which looked similar to the ones on my wedding day.
I slipped on a pair of golden sandals, and my matching aviators.
I hadn't noticed that Steven got dressed as well. He was in the same pair of jeans, and black v-neck that he was wearing earlier. His sexy little feet were adorned in a simple black pair of flip flops, and the matching necklace that I was wearing, was around his neck as well.
He slipped on his aviators, to match me, with a chuckle.
I grabbed my phone, and Alaska, as Steven grabbed the room key.
We headed out of the suite, and down the long corridor that lead towards Joe and Lauren's suite, which was identical to ours.
I knocked on the door, only to have it opened moments later by Lauren.
"Hey babygirl, where's Joe?" I asked, shifting Alaska's weight in my arms.
"In here..." I heard him call from in the suite. Lauren stepped back, allowing Steven and I to enter.
Joe was sitting on the same brown leather couch, with his black Les Paul in hand, and Gavin sitting on the couch next to him, with his Gibson SG. "Jesus, it took you guys long enough..." He laughed, as he plucked out a simple riff.
"Oh shut up..." I rolled my eyes, as I plopped down on the couch across from them. "Just knock next time."
I avoided all eye contact with Gavin, though I could tell he was staring at me intensely. I knew Steven noticed it too, because he put his arm around me and pulled Alaska and I, closer into him.
"Anyway, Gavin and I were fucking around with riffs and stuff and I was just seeing how this kid is..." Joe began as he was mindlessly strumming away. "This kid's got real potential."
"Really?" I asked, holding Ali closer to me.
"Yeah, kid's good... Go on, show 'em Gavin." Joe urged him on.
With a smug grin, Gavin began to shred out a simple riff.
He was actually pretty good... He had potential.
I mean, it's not like he's that pheno-
"Wait..." I paused. "Play that again!"
Startled, Gavin froze, but quickly regained his bad-boy composure, and played the same riff again.
He got to the part I was listening so intently for, and a light bulb went off in my mind.
"Okay! Right there! Stop!" I gasped, "Lauren go get Ryan, Jordan and RJ, please! Steven! Go to the piano and play the thing we did last night!"
Steven grinned and got up from the couch, going over to the black laquered piano that was at the center of the suite. He sat down and abruptly began to play the same beautiful rocking melody that he did the previous night.
Moments later, the door opened and the rest of my band piled in.
"What's this all about, Mia?" Ryan, asked, confused.
Jordan plopped down on the couch next to me, bitting into a peach, and staring at Alaska intensely.
"That song I told you about on the jet yesterday..." I turned my attention back toward Gavin, comanding him to play. "Okay, now play the same thing you just did, but only that one part... Don't strum as hard, and maybe add a light E chord at the end of it, okay?"
When the time came, I began to sing again, completing the song I began last night.
"Somebody speak
Cause I'm feeling like Hell
Need you to answer me
I'm overwhelmed.
I need a voice to echo
I need a light to take me home
I need a star to follow
I don't know..."
I sang the verse I came up with on the spot, and then instantly went into what I decided would be the chorus; what Steven and I played last night.
When I finished, a simultaneous gasp was released from everyone in the room.
"Shit, that was so fucking good!" RJ bounced up and down, becoming really excited about all the possibilities this raw piece could become.
"I know... I knew I had this in me for a while, but I couldn't think what I wanted to write it about, and then last night, I heard Steven playing, and this just hit me like a train!" I blushed, proud of myself.
"Looks like we've got the start to a new album!" Jordan laughed, with a mouth full of fruit.
"Ry, do you wanna start working on this today, or do you want to go explore the resort? We've got our first show tomorrow, so..." I paused, trying to collect my thoughts.
"Can we do both?" He asked, eager to see the land. "Explore for a bit and then work on it? Maybe something we see will give us new shit to write about."
"Perfect." I grinned
Suddenly, there was a light knock on the door, which Lauren answered quickly.
Carla, Connor and Alec made their way into the room, sizing up the scene before them.
"What's up, guys?" She asked, plopping down next to me.
"Gypsy Blue's starting a new album." I grinned, handing her Alaska.
"That's so awesome!" She chuckled cuddling my baby close to her. "So what's everyone doing today? Do you need me to watch Ali?"
"If you want to spend the day with her, you can..." I smiled. "We're going out to explore the resort for a bit, and then Ry, Jord, RJ and I are gonna go back to my suite, and we're going to work on this song."
"Okay, sounds cool." She smiled, kissing Ali's forehead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I laid out on the beach, soaking up my fair share of vitamin D.
I couldn't get this song out of my head; I knew I had to get it done, so I got up from Steven's side, who was bronzing beautifully under the hot Hawaiian sun.
"Where ya goin', Babe?" He asked, looking up as I fixed my white bikini, and grabbed my skirt and shirt.
"I can't get this song out of my head... I just have to go work on it." I smiled shyly.
"That's my girl," He laughed, sitting up. "Want me to come help?"
"No, it's fine. I don't want to bother you on your day off." I collected the rest of my things, as I searched the beach for any sign of Carla and Alaska.
I found them sitting a few yards away, playing in the sand under the shade of a palm tree.
Gavin, Ryan, Alec, Connor and RJ were sitting with them as well, while Jordan was over by Tom, discussing riffs, no doubt.
"Baby, you don't bother me..." He smiled, getting up and wrapping his arms around my waist. "Plus, you don't know how to play the piano."
"But I do know how to play the guitar..." I replied cooly. "I can just match the chords on my guitar, and you can help me whenever you're ready."
"I'll come help you now." He laughed, insisting on coming with me.
"Fine," I chuckled. "Let me just go tell Carla I'm going back into the suite."
Luckily for me, the suite had glass french doors, which opened up right out onto the beach, located about 50 yards from here, so I could easily come back and find Carla if I needed too.
I made my way over to her and plopped down in the sand with my babygirl, earning looks from everyone... including Gavin, who wasn't so much looking at me, but rather my body.
"Steven and I are going to work on the song. It's time for Ali's nap anyway, so I'm gonna put her to sleep, so you kids can go have fun. Okay?" I smiled at the group, avoiding Gavin.
"Do you want me to come?" Ryan asked, ready to get up from where he was sitting.
"Only if you want to..." I smiled warmly at my best friend. "Remember, you're on vacation too. If you don't want to work right now, you really don't have to."
"Gotcha." He grinned. "I'll be in in a little bit."
"Okay." I laughed and scooped up Alaska in my arms, carrying her back to the suite with me, with Steven in suit.
We reached the glass french doors of the suite in a matter of seconds, and I made my way through the room, to the bedroom, where I laid Alaska down in her crib so she could take her nap.
When I finished, I grabbed my Les Paul and came back out sitting next to Steven on the piano bench, where he was waiting for me.
"Ready, Babe?" He asked, placing his long thin fingers on the cool ivory.
"Yep." I grinned
He ran his hands up and down the keys, recreating the same haunting tune that he had the night before.
I sang through the duration of the song, adding in chords and little riffs with my guitar, giving Steven's lullaby more of a Rock edge, so I could perform it during the shows.
"That's perfect, Mia... You know, you really do have an amazing voice." He smiled, leaning in to kiss me, but stopping centimeters before our lips connected. "Have I ever told you that?"
"You might've mentioned it once or twice." I giggled, closing in the space between us, and lightly kissing his plush lips. The warmth of his mouth on mine, sent a shiver rippling through my entire body, and a tingling sensation in all the right places.
I broke apart from the kiss, because I wanted to concentrate on writing down the lyrics and the music Steven and I completed.
I could feel it in my bones, that this was the start of a new sound for Gypsy Blue. This was the beginning of something great, and I couldn't contain my excitement.
I ran through the song a few more times, when RJ, Jordan and Ryan came into the suite, so we could build on it, and hopefully have it ready to perform for our show, tomorrow night.
