I woke up to the beautiful scent of the ocean breeze, floating through the open balcony doors in the master bedroom of the house in Maui, Steven and I bought.
To me, aside from waking up next to Steven, waking up to the sound of crashing waves, and the scent of salt water, was the greatest thing in the world. It brought me peace, and I felt like I was fully refreshed every time I woke up.
I slid out of bed, being careful not to wake Steven, and put my long gypsy robe on over my shorts, and tank top. I strolled over to the balcony, and looked out across the water. The weather was perfect, and there were some choice waves out on the ocean today. I instantly put on my bikini, and grabbed my surf board from the closet in the living room. I put on my sunglasses, and slipped out the back door, and onto the beach. I stopped for a moment, feeling the sand squish between my toes, and the breeze curl itself around me, in a comforting, cool embrace. I shut my eyes, and breathed in the fresh ocean air. When I opened my eyes, I grinned and ran to the water, placing my board down. I hopped on, and paddled out far enough to get a good wave.
I first learned to surf when I was about 8 or 9. My aunt was living in California, out by Monterey Bay, and I would visit her every summer. She eventually caught on to the fact that I had bad anxiety, and was always depressed. She told me that surfing, and just being in the ocean, was all the therapy anyone needed. Thus, adopting her hippie ways. I instantly fell in love with it, and began to surf more and more, and eventually became very good at it. So, when Steven brought up the idea of getting a house down here, right on the beach, I didn't think twice.
I paddled out a little further, and saw the perfect wave. I waited patiently for it to come close enough, and then I began to paddle back in, catching the wave at the peak. I dropped perfectly into the wave, and eventually got caught inside the barrel. I rode the wave until I was out of the barrel, and it was small enough for me too flip the board around it, and let it pass me, and crash onto the shore.
This happened a few more times, until I was satisfied with my ride for the morning.
I just sat on my board out in the water, relaxing, and feeling the waves beneath me, when I noticed people were crowding around on the shore about 30 yards away from the property line of our home. I realized they were looking at me. Some people were cheering at my surfing skills, others were snapping photos and calling my name.
I smiled and waved at them, and then looked up to the balcony of my bedroom.
I saw Steven leaning against the rail, with a cup of coffee in his hand, grinning at me wildly.
I grinned back, and paddled back into shore.
Before I walked back into the house to kiss Steven goodmorning, I decided to stop by my fans, pose for some pictures, and give some autographs.
Many people had surf boards they wanted me to sign, and others had cameras, begging me to pose with my surf board, and then with them.
I spent about 10 minutes doing so, and then I heard a young girl scream. "Oh my god! It's Steven Tyler!"
And everyone's attention turned to Steven, who was walking up to me. When he reached me, he snaked an arm around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"Good morning, Baby." I smiled and kissed him. "Sleep well?"
"Always, when I'm with you." He whispered into my ear, which made me blush a little. "Have a good ride, this morning?" He asked, nodding at my surf board.
"Definitely. There are some kick ass waves out there, today." I grinned, and turned back to face the crowd. "Well, I've got a lot to do today, so I'm gonna go, it was wonderful meeting you all! Be sure to catch some waves today, they're perfect!" I smiled and waved goodbye to everyone. I grabbed my board, and tucked it under my arm, and then held Stevens hand on the other side, as we strolled back to the door of our beach home.
