Telling Gypsy Lies

We were in the Raleigh Recording Studio laying down the final track that we would use for the video and the single. Because of how stressed out I was, I wasn't getting anything right…

As I messed up… For the fourth fucking time… I let out an extremely loud, frustrated groan, and I banged my head against the microphone.

"One more fucking time…" I growled, trying to breathe and regain my composure.

After a few deep breaths, I closed my eyes and let out a long sigh, ready to begin again.

Ryan let out the first few upbeat chords of the tune, waiting for me to get to my part.

"Gypsy…" I breathed into the mic. "Heh, heh."

I began to feel the music a little more.

"Ohhhh yeah"

Eventually, it was my chance to sing, and to finally get this right.

I peeked up at the glass of the control room, seeing the red-haired girl that inspired this song.

Jess was grinning wildly as she watched us do our thing.

I noticed that Steven had walked in and was sitting next to her, watching me with Alaska in his arms.

I have yet to decipher if the butterflies I got from looking at him, were due to nervousness, or love.

"There's a whisper in the disco

That everyone can hear

The music's getting louder

And the dancefloor starts to clear

Doesn't take too long

cause she's standing over there.

You avoid her with a passion,

Until you feel her start to stare."

I smiled, getting a little more into the music.

"And all the fellas wanna see her groove!

And all the ladies wanna steal her moves!

And her body's telling you,

Her body's telling you

You should get on the floor

Get on the floor,

Get on the floor!"

As the chorus came around, I realized I was past that part that I kept fucking up on.

This made me feel so much better.

I grabbed the microphone and started dancing around, singing to each band memeber like I do on stage.

I noticed, however, that when I sang next to Ryan -just like Steven sings with Joe-, Steven's face contorted, showing whatever extreme discomfort he was feeling. I simply ignored it and continued on with the chorus, so we could finally getting our recording right.

"Her gypsy eyes are telling gypsy lies!

Her gypsy eyes are telling gypsy lies!"

Finally, we got the final mix done, and were headed out to the club to start the production of the video.

We quickly packed up our things and headed out into the control room.
