I looked up from my notebook to find RJ, Jordan, and Ryan all staring at me intensely.

We were sitting in a recording studio somewhere in the middle-of-nowhere, Oklahoma, working on the song I was almost finished re-writing.

Steven decided to spend the day with Joe, Alaska, and Beth, while Lauren hung out with the other band wives. Carla and the rest of her band were back at the hotel, practing a few of their songs for the concerts tomorrow.

"Are you ready, Mia?" Ryan asked, a little annoyed. "We don't have much time, and we need to finish this."

Oh, the voice of reason that'll never shut the fuck up.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm almost done with it." I shooed him away in order to let me concentrate.

"So what's this song about, anyway?" RJ asked, twirling a drumstick in in right hand, while eating a peach with his left. His feet were kicked up on his snare, as he sat behind the drum set, waiting on all of us.

"The whole Jack Carey thing…" I muttered, pausing to erase a word and write a new one in its place. "This is like a message to all of us… Everyone out there in the public eye all the time."

"Well, Messiah…" Ryan mused, plucking out chords on his fender. "Lead the way. Grace us with your good message."

"Oh, shut up." I laughed, looking over the final lyrics in my hand. "Okay, I think we're good."

We all stood up took our positions, getting ready to do the final recording of our newest song.

The beat kicked up, and the opening riff followed soon after, then, it was my turn to pump out the vocals.

"I'm sitting in a room,

Made up of only big white walls.

And in the halls,

There are people looking through

The window in the door;

They know exactly what we're here for."

"Guys…" We were cut off by Phil's voice coming on over the intercom from the control room. "The whole, belting it out isn't working for the verses…Maybe the chorus, but not the verses. The tone for this song sounds very upbeat, very fun. Don't act like it's a ballad, Mia."

I rolled my eyes, but deeply took his words into consideration. With a quick nod of my head, I knew exactly what I needed to do.

"Don't look up just let them think;

There's no place else you'd rather be.

You're always on display

For everyone to watch and learn from

Don't you know by now?

You can't turn back

Because this road is all you'll ever have."

I thought of Jack and all the bullshit he caused me, and let all of that energy and anger radiate through me and into the music, as the chorus came around.

"And it's obvious that you're dying, dying.

Just living proof that the camera's lying.

So oh-oh-open wide, cause this is your night.

So, smile, cause you'll go out in style.
