Lachlan drives us home, still slightly drunk. If I would've driven, well, I don't think we would be alive. It's a miracle that we didn't get pulled over.
We arrive back at the house and step out of the car, me still a little shaky after what happened. Lachlan quickly realizes, and without saying anything immediately comes to my side. He helps me inside and I stumble up the stairs. He goes to his room and grabs a shirt, handing it to me.
"W-what's this?" I ask.
"One of my shirts. Wear it. It'll be harder if you put on your perfectly sized clothing in your state." He says, and I nod.
He turns around and I slip my dress off, putting his slightly oversized shirt on. "Done."
Lachlan turns around, smiling and blushing. "Y-you look nice."
I roll my eyes despite the rising blush in my cheeks. "This is just an excuse for me to wear your shirt, isn't it?" I ask.
"Maybe." He responds, and we both go into my room and crash on the bed.
------------------------------------------------------
I slowly open my eyes, taking in my surroundings and trying to remember everything that happened last night. I look down to see that I am wearing one of Lachlan's shirts and his arm is securely around my waist. I immediately blush.D-did we have sex?
My thoughts are scrambled when Lachlan pulls me closer to him, and I don't resist. I turn towards his chest and he cradles me like I'm the most important thing in the world. I smile to myself.
Now I remember.
My smile turns into a frown as I remember that I was almost raped, but Lachlan saved me.
This'll be awkward now.
Lachlan mutters something, and I strain my ears in hopes to hear what he is saying. "Love.... You.... Don't.. Go.." He whispers, and my heart drops.
It's not me and it never was.
My phone goes off and I immediately stretch to reach it. "Hello?" I ask.
"Hello, Caitlin." An all too familiar voice says.
"What do you want?" I ask, my tone bitter.
"You need to go back to England. You need to get back to your studies and become a doctor so you can pay for me." He orders.
"And why the fuck should i do that?" I ask.
"Cause your my daughter." He responds.
"Well, newsflash, you're not my father. You never were and never will be." I angrily respond, hitting the end call button. I throw my phone across the room, huffing. I turn back towards a sleeping Lachlan and lay in my previous position against his chest.
------------------------------------------------------
I wake up again to find Lachlan gone, and a cold feeling settles in my chest. I immediately cover myself in the blankets, but I'm still cold. I pull Lachlan's shirt closer to myself, inhaling his nice scent. I sigh, knowing I have to get up.I stand up and immediately know it's a bad idea, because I come crashing down with a major headache. I groan, putting both hands on my forehead.
"Here." Lachlan says, entering the room with a glass of water and a pill. "I knew you would be a little hungover."
"Thanks." I respond, taking the medicine.
Lachlan was thinking of me... I blush at the thought.
"I need to get recording, so just hangout for a bit until I'm done, alright?"
"Yeah. I'm not going anywhere." I respond as Lachlan smiles, leaving the room.
I slowly stand up, stretching. I smile, deciding on what I should wear today. I grab a pair of leggings and fresh underwear and a bra, then sneak into Lachlan's room and grab one of his shirts. I walk into the bathroom and shower, then hop out and slip on the clothes. I look at myself in the mirror.
This feels.. Right.
I walk back to my room and decide to go on my online class. I went to Oxford University before I left, and I transferred to their online course before I got here.
I do a little schoolwork and decide to go downstairs for a snack. I make myself a smoothie and stop as I hear Lachlan from his office. I decide to step closer to the door as I hear what he is saying.
I always loved listening to him make videos. Especially when he curses and has to edit them out of his minecraft videos. :P
I smile, listening to his conversation. But what catches me off guard is when I realize that he isn't recording.
"I think I'm in love with her." Lachlan says, and my heart drops. It's not me.
"Wow, Lachy." Vikk responds.
"Yeah. It's just... Everything about her is perfect. Her eyes, her long beautiful hair, her personality, just, everything." Lachlan sighs.
I knew it wasn't me.
"Wow. When are you gonna tell her?" Vikk asks.
"I don't know. I don't think she feels the same way about me." Lachlan says, sounding a little sad.
"Of course she does." Vikk reassures.
"I don't know." Lachlan says, and I take that as my cue to leave. I walk back up the stairs, smoothie in hand, and into my room where I decide to cry.
It's not me and it never was.
I stop crying for a little bit and decide to finish my smoothie, looking at a small picture book of Autumn and I from when we were little. I cry a bit more, knowing I really left Autumn for nothing.
What will she think?
She probably hates my guts, honestly.
So now I really have nobody. If I ask the sidemen for help, they'll probably hate me even more. I bury my head in my pillow and scream, letting all my feelings out.
It's raining out, and I decide to go for a walk despite the weather. I slip on a hoodie and walk down the stairs, throwing on some sneakers and walking outside. In a matter of seconds, I am soaked. But I ignore it and walk around. I shiver and my whole body feels cold, but I fight it. I sit down on a curb and just focus on the ground, thinking of nothing and everything, the weather reflecting my emotions.
"Caitlin!" A voice yells, but I don't respond. "Caitlin?! Where are you? Caitlin!" The voice says, nearer. I stand up and start walking away. "Caitlin! Caitlin!" He yells, getting closer. I pick up my pace. "Caitlin! There you are!" He yells, running into me. He wraps his arms around me, and I have no choice but to respond.
I can't let him know these confusing emotions in me.
"What are you doing out here?! I was worried sick!" He says, panting from his run.
"Just felt like it, I guess." I respond, cold.
"You must be freezing. Here." He responds, slipping his jacket over me.
"Thanks." I respond as he grabs my hand.
"Let's go back." He says, and I nod.
"I'm following you."
