One Hope {A Lachlan Fanfic}

Thirty Six

Today is the day that Rob leaves. He's been here for a good week or two but has to leave. We are standing out at the airport now, saying our goodbyes. I start first.

"Rob, it was really nice to meet you. I'm glad we became friends." I say, giving him a quick hug as Lachlan waits behind me.

"Same here. Make sure Lachlan doesn't get into any trouble." He says, letting go and smiling at me.

I laugh, taking a step back. "I won't."

"See ya later, man." Lachlan says, giving him a bro hug.

"See ya." Rob responds, then whispers something into his ear which he nods to, causing me to become curious. But me being a nice person, I say nothing.

"Bye." Lachlan and I wave to Rob before getting in the car and pulling away.

Lachlan's POV:

I remember Rob's words as I drive the car back to our place.

Take good care of her; she's something special.

A smile makes its way onto my lips as I subconsciously reach over and grab Caitlin's hand. I internally scream as I realize what I just did.

I CROSSED THE FRIEND BOUNDARY. HELP.

Thankfully, I am saved.

Caitlin's POV:

"That traffic looks really bad, are you sure you want to go through it?" I ask, noticing that Lachlan grabbed my hand for comfort, most likely because of the traffic ahead of us. Lachlan's shoulders slightly sag in relief, causing me to be a bit confused, but once again I say nothing despite the rising blush appearing on my cheeks.

"Yeah; it'll just take a little while." He responds, a little stressed.

"It's alright, Lachy." I reassure him, slightly squeezing his hand. He squeezes back, causing me to smile. We sit in silence for a few minutes until the traffic clears a little more, and I let go of his hand, looking for a good music station. My eyes widen and I screech as my favorite overplayed song comes on. I sing and dance wildly along as Lachlan pays attention to the road.
