"How did you find me, Lachlan?" I ask after a minute or two, still not registering the fact that he is up at 7:30 a.m..
"I heard you get up. I checked the house for you and when I realized you weren't there, immediately ran here." Lachlan says, letting go of me and sitting down across from me.
"Wow." I quietly mutter.
"Cait, you've been really different lately, and it's scaring me. Tell me everything; I'm listening." He sincerely says, and I look away, out at the small lake.
"Lachlan, some stories aren't meant to be told; and mine's one of them." I darkly respond.
"Cait, please. I just want to help." He persists. "I only know the basics and that's barely nothing."
"Why should I tell you this while you're hiding secrets of your own?" I ask, looking back at him for a brief second before looking away again.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"I mean, I didn't know that a 'Robert Latsky' was coming to stay with us." I huff, upset.
"Oh, I did tell you!" He says.
"When?"
"When Cassidy was over four days ago." Lachlan says.
"That explains it." I mutter to myself, remembering that day. I was too obsessed in finding ways to seriously injure Cassidy that I didn't hear a word Lachlan said.
"What?" Lachlan asks.
"Nothing, nothing. But you've still done some unacceptable things." I reply, looking down at my shoes.
"Like what?"
"... I can't tell you." I sadly respond, deciding to play with the grass.
"Well, that's not fair. How am I supposed to make up for my mistakes if you won't even tell me what I did wrong?"
"You just have to figure it out." I reply, looking at his eyes for a brief second and then looking away once again.
"LACHLAN!" A voice screams, and I immediately know who it is; Cassidy. "LACHLAN! WHERE ARE YOU?" She yells, her voice getting closer.
I look back at Lachlan, my heart starting to fall into my stomach. "Go to her." I whisper, but to my surprise, he slightly shakes his head.
"No."
"Lachlan, go. She needs you." I whisper again.
He shakes his head in answer. "You need me more than she does right now."
"LACHLAN!" Cassidy yells, and in one swift movement he stands up, picks me up, and hides behind the tree. He drops me and I peer around the tree, him with his chest pressed against my back. I slightly blush as he wraps his arms around my waist and his ragged breath is against my neck. "Lachlan." Cassidy says again, coming into view. After a moment of standing there, she decides to speak to herself. "He's probably snogging that Caitlin- that bitches'- face off. I hate her so much."
I blink once, registering what she just said. Once I realize it, I start to get angry and Lachlan wraps his arms tighter around me. "Let me at that slut!" I whisper-yell as she starts to run away and I punch at nothing. Once she disappears, Lachlan turns me to face him. "Why'd you let her go like that? She's a bitch that needs to be taught a lesson!" I whisper, seething like venom.
"I'll deal with her later." He says, looking into my eyes, and I start to calm down.
I roll my eyes and start to walk away, Lachlan quickly catching up. "She thought that we were making out, Lachlan. As much as hate her, I would never kiss a guy in a relationship with someone else."
"So you're saying that if we broke up you would-" He says, but I cut him out by breaking out into laughter.
"Maybe. Maybe not." I respond. He just looks at me, smiling, and loops his arm through mine. "Woah, don't get too cozy." I joke.
"Oh, come on. You love it." He replies, and I smile.
"In your dreams." I whisper despite my body wanting to react to his touch.
~
"Lachlan!" Cassidy shrieks, walking into our place. "Let's go out!"He looks at me before I nod, urging him to go. "Alright." He says. "Sorry, Cait. Movie day tomorrow?" He asks, and I nod.
Although he doesn't know what I've been planning.
Lachlan walks out the door with Cassidy at his side, her looking back at me and sticking her tongue out at me while also throwing the middle finger in my direction. I roll my eyes but walk up to my bedroom after hearing the front door close.
I open my closet and look at my packed suitcases. As much as it hurts to leave, I have to. Lachlan is with Cassidy and it hurts more to see them together than Alex abusing me. A tear slips from my eye as I close the doors again and decide to walk downstairs. I walk outside, phone in hand, and decide to walk the much dreaded walk to Jake's apartment.
For some reason, Lachlan and Jake really don't like each other.
~
"Hey, Jay. Can you please unlock your door?" I ask into the phone. Lately I've been calling him Jay, and he seems to really like it."Yeah, sure. I'll be out in a second." He says, hanging up and opening the door moments later. "What's up?"
"I-I have something that you should know." I respond, walking inside.
"What is it?" He asks as we sit down on his couch.
I take a deep breath, closing my eyes for a brief second to muster up the courage and then open them. "Jay, I'm going back to England."
~
The end.Just kidding ;)
~
"W-what?! You can't!" He exclaims."Jay, you don't get it. I have to. It hurts to much to be here." I reply.
"No! You can't leave!" He pops up, and I immediately notice red on his wrists. My eyes widen in shock as I know exactly what it is.
"J-Jay." I gasp, standing up and carefully grabbing both of his wrists. I roll up his sleeves to see exactly what I expected. "J-J-Jay! Why would you do something like this?" I exclaim.
"Allie left me for a different guy. She moved across the whole fucking globe to be with him. It's absolutely ridiculous and I can't handle it." He responds.
"J-Jake." I gasp again, starting to cry. I drop my grasp on his hands and fall into his chest. "Don't ever do that. You're too perfect to harm yourself."
"Y-you mean that?" He asks, and I nod, looking up at him.
"You're the most amazing person I've met."
"Hey, Cait. I've uhm, had some time to think things over." He says, and I nod, letting go of him. "And, well, the reason why I don't want you to leave is......"
~
The end. For real this time.Just kidding, cliffhangers suck. ;)
~
"The reason why I don't want you to leave is... I'm in love with you."
