Twenty Eight

I groan, getting off my bed. I stand up and look at myself in the mirror. My hair is messy, my posture is slouched and it looks like I haven't slept for weeks.

I sigh, grabbing a brush and running it through my long brown hair. I put on a little makeup, enough to hide my tiredness, and slip on some sweatpants and a skinny black tank top. I walk into the kitchen and look in the kitchen for something to eat. After a couple minutes of searching, I come up unsuccessful. I internally groan, grab the keys, and walk to the car, starting the engine and off to the store.

I return a few hours later with some ACTUAL food; not whatever Lachlan gets. I put the items away and leave out a ramen bowl. I cook it in the microwave, take it out when the timer beeps, and sit down. I plug my headphones into my phone and blast Twenty One Pilots songs while eating some ramen.

It's as close to perfect as it can get now.

"Yo, Cait." Lachlan says, and I internally sigh.

"What's up?" I ask, taking an earplug out.

He sighs, closing his eyes for a brief second before reopening them and looking at me. "I booked you an appointment to see a psychologist."

My eyes widen before I start to tear up, grabbing my phone and running out the door.

Who does he think he is, controlling my life like that?

Who the fuck does he think he is?

He has no right!

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"Caitlin!" Lachlan yells from behind me, but his voice makes me run faster. "Caitlin! Wait!" He yells, his voice coming nearer. Curse my short legs. A sudden boost of adrenaline rushes into me and I sprint as hard as I can away from him. "Caitlin! Please!" He yells, voice getting closer. I run past buildings, dodging people. I keep running until I see the park. I run and stop for a brief second before turning around. My eyes widen as I notice Lachlan extremely close. I take off again but my breath rushes as I am tackled to the ground. We roll down the hill until we land near the lake, near my safe spot.

And then I notice that Lachlan is on top of me. I blush despite the situation, but it quickly turns into a frown. "Get off me." I say.

He shakes his head. "Not until you explain yourself."

I laugh at him. "Explain myself? Why don't you explain yourself."

"What do you mean?" He asks, raising a brow.

I sigh. "You wouldn't understand... Just get off of me."

"Maybe I would understand if you told me." He responds.

"Well, for starters, you don't tell someone that you booked them a psychologist meeting."

"Well... I, uhm.." Lachlan says, at a loss for words.

"Exactly." I state.

"But that doesn't explain why you're still mad at me." He points out.

I sigh, debating on how to tell him. "Let's just say I'm not necessarily mad at you, but your actions. That's all I'm saying."

Lachlan groans. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Maybe if you weren't so dense, you would understand." I suggest. "Now can you get off me?"

"Alright." He responds, getting up and offering me a hand. I debate on if I should take it or not, but finally decide to accept. "Let me make it up to you."

"How?" I curiously ask, looking at his ever so beautiful eyes.

Ugh.

"The next two days are just you and me. We'll do whatever you want, wherever you want." He suggests, and I raise a brow. "What? I'm not kidding here." He says, raising his hands in defense.

A shimmer of hope runs through me as I look into his eyes, which show so much sincerity and regret. I sigh, knowing what comes next.

"Please?" Lachlan pouts, biting his lip and blessing up (A/N: yes I said that. Deal with it. BOOM).

"What's the catch?" I ask, still having doubt.

"Nothing." He replies.

"... Alright." I give in. "But only cause you begged."

"Did not!" He playfully argues as we walk back to the apartment.

"Did too." I reply with a smile on my face.

"Alright, maybe I did."

I playfully nudge him. "Of course you did."

He side hugs me as we near the apartment. "I missed you, Cait."
