Cracking my eyes open I groaned remembering I wasn't at home, I felt especially angry today. The frustration at my mother had built up inside me and I felt just about ready to burst. Honestly, she was being ridiculous, Alec and I are 18 we can decide who we date, her not agreeing with our decision doesn't justify her kicking me out. Besides, her idea to keep us apart clearly wasn't working.
"Morning grandma." I smiled as I began pouring myself a cup of coffee. "Morning sweetie," she chirped finishing off her bowl of porridge. A sigh of satisfaction escaped my lips as I took the first sip of my coffee, instantly I began to feel more awake. I was never a morning person, but coffee made mornings slightly more bearable.
"Did you have fun last night?" My grandma asked, a strange tone in her voice. Widening my eyes, I turned to look at my grandma seeing her smirking at me. Blowing out a breath, thrilled that she wasn't mad, I shot her a smile. "Yeah." Humming, I took a seat next to her at the dinning table. "I bet you did." She taunted me, causing a chuckle to escape both of our lips.
I spent the rest of the day angry at my mom. Every time I thought about it, the more I wanted to yell at her, and explain to her that she was being ridiculous.
"Grandma, I'm just so angry at her. I can't believe she kicked me out of the house, I didn't do anything wrong!" I ranted, placing my knife and fork down on my almost empty plate. Cutting up her chicken, my grandma nodded "Honey, I completely agree with you, your moms probably just shocked." sighing she gave me a sympathetic look. Nodding, I leaned over and squeezed her arm gently with a smile to thank her "I just wish I could make her understand." I groaned flinging my arms in the air. Standing up from her seat, my grandma placed a hand on my shoulder "Sometimes we have to fight for what we want."
What my grandmother told me echoed through my mind for the rest of the day. I debated fighting, and I debated letting my mother come and apologise to me.
Sitting on my bed, I shook my leg deep in thought while chewing on my thumb nail. It took long time, but I finally made the decision and knew what I had to do. I had to fight for what I wanted. I had to explain to my mom that me and Alec would be together no matter what she did.
Without thinking twice, I threw all my clothes and other items back into my suitcase, not bothering to be neat about it. Zipping up my bag, I glanced around the room making sure I hadn't forget anything. After taking a second to calm my nerves, I wheeled my bag out of the room, and carried it down the stairs. I sat down on the bottom step shaking my leg nervously as I waited.
When the message I had been waiting for lit up on my phone, I jumped to my feet.
"Grandma, I'm going home." I announced stepping into the living room, setting my bag down on the ground. Grinning, my grandma stood to her feet, pulling me into the hug. "Always, fight." She whispered. I thanked her for everything promising that I would come to visit her or often, she told me to bring Alec next time.
Tears pricked at my eyes as I stepped out of the house "I'll see you soon." I called to my grandma, wheeling my suitcase down the path and out of the garden. "Love you." I called as I gave her one last wave, hearing her shout it back. Spending time with my grandma was amazing and I was sad to leave her, but I had to.
"Eliza Hammond?" I said my through the open window of the blue car parked outside of my grandma's garden. The uber was a young guy with short hair, glancing at me he nodded motioning for me to get in.
"You look nervous." The guy spoke after a few minutes of driving. Placing my hand on my shaking leg I let out a soft chuckle "Yeah." Catching my eyes in the rear view mirror he smiled "Doing anything important?" Turning to look out the window, I smiled thinking of my grandma "I'm going to fight for something I want."
The guy nodded "Are you prepared?" Slapping my hand to my forehead I groaned "I haven't even thought about what I'm going to say." Laughing at my behaviour, he patted a hand against his chest "Speak from your heart girl." Blowing out a breath of air I nodded "Thank you."
"Oh my god." I repeated as the car pulled up outside my house. Wiping my hands on my knee, I picked up my bag and looked at my house, nerves eating at my stomach. "I hope everything goes well." My uber driver told me, turning around to give me a comforting smile. Pushing the door open I thanked him, lifting my bag out of the car and setting it on the ground.
I looked at the house I had grew up in, feeling as though weeks had passed since I had last been there. Anxiety bubbled in my stomach and chest as I thought about what I was about to do, but then I thought about my bed and Alec and I smiled.
Nodding my head I straightened my body and gripped my suitcase wheeling it towards the door. "Here goes nothing." I mumbled quietly to myself. Taking a deep breath when I made it to the front door I looked at it unsure of what to do. Lifting my fist in the air I prepared to knock before I shook my head. This is my home. Grasping the door handle I pushed the door open lifting my bag into the house.
