"God i'm so glad exams are over," he sighed, putting his arms up on the couch.
"Me too, our lives will be less stressful now," I laughed.
"In just one more week we'll have the whole summer to be free," he smiled.
Instead of answering, I kissed him.
He looked surprised, but eased into the kiss. I put my hand in his purple hair, causing a sound to escape from his full, almost red lips.
I used my free hand to pull him down on the couch with me before the sound of his voice brought me back to reality. I opened my eyes to find a confused Bradley looking back.
"What's gotten into you Jessie?" he smiled, moving a piece of hair from my face.
Lately whenever I closed my eyes, all I could see was Michael kissing me at the ice cream place a couple weeks ago, and it was starting to drive me crazy.
I grabbed his face kissing him again, trying to get Michael out of my head.
Part of me resented Michael for even kissing me in the first place, if it didn't mean anything to him. All it did was make me feel guilty around Bradley and weird around Michael.
Michael pleaded with me to not tell Bradley what happened and despite the fight me and Bradley got into that night, we made up and I reassured Michael I wouldn't say anything.
I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket, so I pulled away from Bradley and sat up to answer it.
*Michael eggplant emoji* flashed on the screen, luckily I slid accept call before Bradley saw who it was.
"It's my mom, i'll be right back," I said, getting up from underneath Bradley.
All I heard was Bradley groaning as I walked up the stairs.
"Hey sorry i'm at Bradleys what's up?" I asked into the phone, sitting down at the top of the stairs
"It happened again," Michael sounded stuffy like he had been crying.
"Again? Michael I thought everything was getting better?" I tried not to sound too worried.
"I thought it was." He sounded like he might start crying again.
"I was just about to go home, you should come over." It was only 9 and me and Bradley had planned on spending most of Friday night together, but Michael needed me.
"Only if you were gonna leave anyway." He sounded like he was trying to compose himself, but I know he's itching to get out of his house. He didn't tell anybody else about what he was going through, he probably wouldn't even have told me if i hadn't seen some of it.
"Yeah don't worry I was just getting my stuff before you called, i'll pick you up in 5," I said before hanging up.
As I made my way down the stairs, I was thinking up a story I could tell Bradley so I could leave without a fight. I couldn't tell him anything about Michael because it would just start an argument. Lately things were going good and I didn't want to make any waves. Bradley didn't know about the kiss but he still didn't like it when I spent too much time with Michael.
"Bradley I gotta go i'm sorry my parents need me to come home and take care of my brother," I said when I hit the bottom of the stairs.
"But I thought your parents weren't gonna be home tonight?" Bradley groaned.
"They're not, that's why I need to go home. They don't want my brother to be alone," I walked over and grabbed my bag, slinging it over my shoulder. My brother was a Freshman and could easily take care of himself.
