"I can't believe it's finally the last day of school, oh how i've waited for this day," Callie exclaimed, pulling her papers out of her locker and throwing them into the trash.
"I know i'm so happy we don't have to come here for another three months," I agreed.
"We're still going to that movie thing tonight right?" Callie asked, throwing away the remainder of her papers and closing her locker.
It was a tradition at school to have a 'movie night' on the night of the last day of school. Callie, Sam and I never went because we never wanted to come hang out with these people outside of school. It was pretty cool though because they showed the movie outside on the football field and it was free.
"Yeah but Bradley can't come, he's going to visit the college he got into so me and Michael will just third wheel you and Luke," I said, adjusting the backpack on my shoulder.
It was Michael and Luke's idea to go, they thought it would be fun if we all went. Bradley felt bad about not coming because he wanted to spend as much time with me as he could this summer. He got into the college he wanted, so this was essentially our last couple months together. Michael was also graduating in a week but he was going to a community college down the street, which I was selfishly happy about.
"You and Michael act like a married couple so if anyone is third wheeling it'll be me and Luke."
"Shut up," I laughed.
That night, Callie drove us to school where we were going to meet the boys on the field.
"Plot twist, look who's late this time?" Michael called as we approached him and Luke sitting on the ground, claiming a spot in the back away from everyone else.
"We were only late because we picked up a crazy hitchhiker," Callie joked, pointing at Sam.
"Thats no excuse, we picked up a hitchhiker too but we were on time," Luke playfully smiled up at Callie from his seat on the ground, receiving a push on the shoulder.
"Oh yeah where's your hitchhiker?" I piped in, joining the boys on the ground.
"We gave him some money to get food, hopefully he didn't just take it and run," Michael laughed, making room for Sam, Callie and I on the blanket.
"You guys didn't have to buy food, we snuck a bunch in," Sam laughed, opening her jacket to reveal candy and popcorn. Me and Callie did the same with our blankets, pulling out sodas and chips. You weren't allowed to bring food in but we thought we'd take our chances.
Michael opened his mouth so wide and Luke looked at us like we were the smartest people on earth and I don't think i've laughed that hard in a long time.
We all got comfy on our blankets as we waited for the movie to start. Sam was on the end, I was beside Sam, Michael was on my other side, then Luke then Callie. A couple of our school friends asked if we wanted to move up to the front with them but we hung back, I loved our little group and I know they all did too.
"Isn't it weird that before this year, we didn't know you guys?" I asked. I had a habit for getting nostalgic.
"Honestly yeah, like it's weird to think it was just us boys before," Luke agreed, putting an arm around Callie. We continued to be cheesy and talk about how we were all besties when I nudged Michael, "I mean if you hadn't gotten drunk at the concert and come up to me then who knows if I would ever talk to you, or Bradley even. I mean I know Callie and Luke were secretly a thing but who knows when I would have found that out," I laughed.
"Yeah, good thing Luke gave Callie the tickets or else her whole plan wouldn't have worked," he laughed, but I was confused.
"What?" I laughed slowly, turning to Callie.
