Jacob's Pov

Dinner was amazing tonight.

My plane arrived just this morning so I haven't seen much of New York, but I was already enjoying it so far. It was  probably because of Abby, even though she's angry at me, it was really great seeing her face again. She's gotten more beautiful since then, I can say that.

We were all waiting in front of the restaurant for our Uber. My eyes darted over to Abby who was scrolling through her phone and her other free hand was running through her wavy hair nonchalantly.

I looked away and went through my phone before she could catch me staring.

Luckily, our ride finally arrived and we all sat on the black leather seats of the vehicle.

My fingers combed my hair nervously, tapping my foot against the floor. The ride back to Abby's apartment was pretty short, mostly because my mind was consumed with thoughts of how I can start a better conversation with Abby.

Honestly, I was such a screw-up.

The entire distance thing with Abby and I was going fine until I messed everything up by agreeing to fake date Penny. I don't know why I agreed, I knew all along she was just using me for popularity. And I knew it would break Abby's heart. I guess I was just afraid that she'll find someone better in New York and forget about me so I decided to do it before she could.

Why would I think like that? Because of Penny.

Abby is kind and loyal and she would never do that to me, I should've never listened to Penny in the first place.

We made our way to the elevator, my mom and Abby's parents were caught up in a conversation while Abby stood on the far side of the elevator--distancing herself from me. I watched the red numbers on the top change as we got higher.

Once we heard the familiar ding, we stepped out of the lift and made our way to the door that leads to Abby's new home.

Her apartment only had two bathrooms, and my mom already occupied the first one.

"Is anyone going to use the other bathroom?" I politely asked Abby's mom.

"Um, I don't think so. You can use it if you want." She replied with a warm smile. I gladly returned one back and said 'thanks.'

My legs made their way over to the guest bedroom I was currently sharing with my mom since Abby only had one extra room. My mom got the bed while I had to sleep in an inflatable one on the floor. I searched the room for my items and I quickly gathered them together.

I left the room and walked over to the bathroom with a pair of clean underwear and extra sweatpants in my hand.

I was about to enter when I collided with another body. "Oh my gosh, sorry! I didn't mean to, my phone was distracting me and—oh, it's you." Abby growled, adding emphasis to 'you' as if I was the devil.

"Yep, it's me." I cheered.

She scoffed and entered the bathroom I was just about to use.

"Why are you still standing there?" Abby folded her arms across her chest, she was already changed into a tank top and shorts.
