"And why would I help you?" Kira snapped in a sassy tone.
"Because I said please?" I gave her an innocent smile.
"I have a feeling you're just gonna keep acting like you didn't make me chase you all around Central Park and left me all alone looking like an idiot, so fine. I'll help you register." She scoffed and walked inside.
I couldn't hide the smile that was making its way towards my face. "For your information, you can look like an idiot all on your own."
" 'For your information,' " she mimicked "I don't care. Get inside."
I laughed at how funny she looks when angry, which only made her angrier.

"Alright, you are all signed up. Remember: it is $100 dollars for the first three months and then $40 for the rest." Nichole assured us with another smile. "And we all meet here at 5pm to 8pm every Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays. Don't forget. If you miss our classes three times in a row you are kicked off the program, simple as that. Any more questions or concerns?" She said quickly and sweetly.
"Uhh," I glanced at Kira and she shook her head "nope. I guess that's it. Thank you so much."
"No, thank you. It's a pleasure." We shook each other's hands and head out the door.
"Looks like my sister is gonna be doing something useful with her life." Kira brings me in for a hug.
"Oh, shut up." I teased, freeing myself from her grip. We walked for a few minutes as silence fell upon us.
"So how's you and Jacob?" She sang. Cringe.
"Don't talk about him." I spat, bitterly. I left the house to get my mind off of him, but here I am--thinking about him. I actually did get my mind off him but now it's kind of hard to continue that streak when Kira mentioned his name.
Kira sighed. "Sis, it's gonna be okay. Long distance relationships usually don't end up well anyway. That's why I broke up with my boyfriend to make it easier to leave."
I thought about that day Kira took me to our neighborhood park and broke up with her boyfriend. It was a bit weird, I have to admit. But now I understand.
Though, distance wasn't the reason Jacob and I are over. We're over because he wasn't an honest boyfriend, and Penny wasn't an honest friend.
If Jacob just told me he wanted us to be over, I would've still been heartbroken. But nothing hurts more than being lied to and cheated on. I may only be 14, but I already understand what it actually feels like to be heartbroken.
And I never want to feel that way again.
