"He should be here any minute. Because I swear to god, if he's not..." Missy flushed agitatedly, her hands dripping with the orange melted popsicle Carson had handed to her after he complained about getting his hands "alf sticksy wif sam!"

I swear the kid made up a language that only Effie knew as they gabbed animatedly while sitting under the umbrella Missy had brought. Effie was always stealing his toys and he would just sit there and watch her with big brown eyes and a big rosy smile. If they didn't get together when they were older, I'd be sorely disappointed.

"Don't worry about it, Missy." I said for the umpteenth time since the clock struck four something. "I'm fine just sitting here—"

"In the shade, you loser. You're at the beach! At least try to tan!" Emma kicked sand in my direction as she laid out on her towel on her belly, trying to tan her 'untannable' skin while wearing the cute red and white two piece.

"Yeah, and you're still wearing the cover-up. I want to see you flaunt it in my adorable bikini!" Missy joined in on picking on me, her nose scrunching up as she attempted to wipe off the orange goop on her hands with the baby wipes she brought along for situations like these. "Buddy, where do you think you're running off to now?" She laughed tiredly, brushing off the sand on her white bikini cladded perfect body as she stood up to go chase down Carson who was saying undistinguishable words about the "poopy-doog!"

I already loved him and prayed he never learned to English properly.

"Hey." Ashton came back from his food run, arms full of all sorts of goods. He sweatily sat down beside me in the sun, just in front of Effie as she turned her head at the sound of his deep voice.

"Ashyy's back!" She grinned, waving at him as he chuckled and shook his dark hair disapprovingly. "I want ice cream." She crawled over, looking for the cold treat.

Ashton exhaled, "You couldn't have told me that when I went to go get food?" He passed me a hot dog just as my stomach rumbled embarrassingly. "We'll get some later, alright?" He looked at her as she pouted unhappily at him. He didn't wait for her answer as he turned around to give Emma her huge slice of pizza who took it like a starved abused animal.

"Oh good!" Missy grinned, eyeing the food dangerously, "the food's finally here --took you long enough." She teased Ashton as Carson ran up behind her and latched onto her leg.

Ashton rolled his eyes, passing her the big messy chilly-dog. "Sorry. Couldn't use my Freeze-Ray gun on the line-up; I forgot it back home." He scoffed, using a kid-friendly version of what I could easily imagine he really wanted to say.

Missy stuck her tongue out at him after already taking a huge bite of her burger. "I wish you were as awesome as Gru." She mumbled through the food. Ashton just ignored her and gave Carson and Effie the bite sized chicken with a side dish of all sorts of vegetables to share.

"Missy?" A male voice called out suddenly just as I had followed Missy's and Emma's lead and chomped down on a big bite of hot-dog.

"For fûck sakes, Bran!" Missy growled out, slipping the curse accidentally in her rage. "No wonder Shelby dumped your âss!" She stormed over to the blonde haired boy, his pale face flushed as he scratched the back of his head.

"Sorry, sis." He muttered, before throwing her a sheepish grin.

Sis? As in sister? Did Missy really set me up with her brother?
