Falling into Emma's bed that night was as if falling into a floating cloud. My body instantly reacted with a sigh that let out all tension and turmoil of the stress my body had been put under due to bruises upon bruises."Rough day? Did you get into another fight with a cheerleader?" Emma asked, taking her reading glasses off as I glanced up at her from under my own glasses for a moment.
"Everything is all good." I mumbled through the pillow my face was currently smothered by.
As if on cue, my phone dinged with another unread text message; making me groan as I reached for the device in my bag on the floor beside the bed.
I missed you. It had only been a day...but I missed you.
My lips turned up as my belly filled with the familiar fluttering sensation. It didn't fix everything, but that was okay. Liam might have kissed someone else, but that was something I had to face. Maybe we had feelings that passed the friendship line, but we never talked about them. He did nothing wrong. We did nothing wrong.
It didn't fix everything. But it was a start.
I missed you too. I wrote back, but just as I was about to send it, my phone lit up as my ringtone played out.
"Hello," I giggled softly, knowing already it was the guy who continued to torment my heart.
"I missed you." Liam breathed out. "Wow. I missed you. Don't you think that's something? Not even 24 hours in and I felt like I might lose my mind if I didn't get to hear your voice and see your smile." He mused aloud with a bemused note in his voice.
I flipped onto my back, ignoring Emma's curious eyes as I closed mine and fell into the world of Liam. "Let's not do that again." I agreed with his statement softly before letting out a yawn.
"No, let's never do that again." He sighed, sounding as if he fell into his bed as something squeaked from sudden weight being put on it. "Come to the game tomorrow. I won't win if you're not there."
"I promised Alice I'd go with her, so I guess you have to win now." I joked, twirling my hair blindly as I continued to bask in the darkness and imagine myself lying next to him.
"I'll try my hardest, pretty girl. Get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow." He murmured, his voice soft and sincere as I nodded and smiled more.
"Goodnight, Liam." I opened my eyes to see Emma too close to my face as a squeal startled me away from the world of Liam.
"Holy crap, Em, go away." I coughed, choking on air and saliva as I gasped in shock; pushing Emma away violently and making her fall back into the pillows.
Liam chuckled, "Tell Emma I said goodnight." He said knowingly, "Have sweet dreams, Ailie Dawn." After hesitating he laughed again, "I hate hanging up on you."
My heart beat hard in my chest as I laughed back, "You're going to have to eventually. I'll see you tomorrow." I reassured him.
He gave a final sigh and mumbled a sweet goodbye, ending the call begrudgingly.
"You guys are so cute!" Emma swooned, grasping her chest over her shirt as if in the middle of heart failure. "You are totally in love with him, ails. You should have seen your face. It was so soft and carefree. Just go to him already please!"
