“Kennedy can you move over a little?” I asked as the makeup artist finished doing touch ups. She moved closer to the other models, draping her arm over one of the other models smiling as if they’ve been friends for years. “Put your arm down a little?” I asked, her elbow relaxed down her side as positivity radiated from her and guilt radiated from me.
I feel like punching myself in the face repeatedly with the sledge hammer Miley Cyrus licked in her music video. As soon as I came in Kennedy pulled me to the side and began gushing about Luke and how much he seems to like her and how much she is growing to like him. I feel as if every time she looks at me she can see through it and knows what happened between us.
“That’s great guys, next outfit” I smiled. They all untangled themselves from each other and began changing into their next outfits. I walked over to my laptop and placed my camera to the side before taking a long breath out.
“Hey” Derek said as he pulled himself onto the table, I smiled back and nodded before hooking up the camera. “What happened?” he asked, I sighed before going through the photos.
Kennedy looks so happy; she’s so gorgeous and so nice. Why am I doing this to my best friend? I’m such a selfish slut.
“Is it Isabella?” he asked with a concerned look. I shook my head placing my hand on his arm.
“No she’s fine…” I told him “She’s not going anywhere any time soon” I mumbled looking back to the screen.
“Then, what’s up?” he asked “I haven’t seen you this stressed in a long time” I shrugged.
“It’s a new line; I’m just worried it won’t be as good as the others…” this time he sighed taking my hand.
“You know I’m here if you need to talk, right?” I nodded to him.
“Don’t replace me with that ‘punk rock but not even punk rock’ band. No matter how good they play their instruments and no matter how attractive they are. They don’t know what I do” I gave him a small smile.
He doesn’t know I told Ashton about my aunty, and he doesn’t know that I told him more than Derek could ever know about me. Yet another thing for me to feel guilty of.
“Hey, which shirt will look better?” Kennedy asked as she walked over in her bikini. I scratched the side of my head as I noticed the male models acting childish and making inappropriate hand gestures about her body parts. You’d think they would be a little more mature or professional.
“Ummm, the muscle tee” I smiled before she nodded.
“What’s going on with you and Kennedy?” Derek asked.
I looked to him before I noticed Ashton walking in, “Later… I’ll be back” I smiled. Ashton greeted me with open arms.“
You look nice” he smiled, I shrugged.
“It was the only thing I found this morning” I said crossing my arms over my body.
“Was that before or after Luke left?” he questioned with a cheeky smile, I felt my smile drop from my face.
“Did he tell you?” I asked, this time he shrugged and walked over to the table of clothes.
Before I could even interrogate him further Calum and Michael walked in and gave me hugs, “Sorry we’re late” Calum apologised.
“It’s cool, I’m still shooting my new girl line” I said pointing over to all the girls changing into their clothes.
“I guess we can hang a little...” Calum began trailing his words.
“Okay, tongue back in your head” I said slapping him across the head.
*Luke’s P.O.V*
“Thanks girls” I waved as I walked into the back room. It was nice seeing the fans, they were even wearing some of Shannon’s shirts. She would have gone crazy, she loves seeing that people like her stuff; it’s like a public approval thing I guess.
I walked in to see her slapping Calum across the head. I could hear her cute chuckle from where I was and it made me smile.
She made me smile.
I feel like I can be myself around her, I can tell her anything and she won’t judge. No matter how small or how big the problem is. She answers my text messages right away and replies even in the early hours of the morning. Just the other morning I did a random mass message to at least 6 people and she was the only one that replied. I guess that means something right?
“Hey” I said as she turned around, her glowing smile caught me off guard as she hair long dark swayed around her shoulders. She punched my shoulder before pulling me into a side hug.
“Hey yourself” she smiled.
She pulled out of the hug before walking over to the table where Ashton and Michael were, helping them with the shirt selections.
“So… You and Shannon?” I heard Calum say, I turned to him and shrugged “Well, you went out last night right?” I nodded “And…?” I smiled to him as he wrapped his arms around me. “Aw!” he cooed loudly “You’re blushing!” he added. I groaned as I continued to let him hold me, letting the awkward moment play out just as Shannon turned and laughed at us. “Kennedy may be hot, but Shannon is something different…” Calum said. We both turned and looked at Kennedy just taking off her shirt, revealing her green patterned bikini before she flung her shirt to the ground. I looked to Shannon, who was singing along to the background music as she folded shirts into piles.
“They're definitely different” I said, finally speaking.
“But we all know who you like. Go for it” Calum said patting my shoulder before going over to Shannon and picking up a shirt. I silently walked over to the couch she had provided just across from the table, I watched as Calum and Shannon had a conversation about the shirts and then I sort of got lost in how she looked today. It wasn’t anything flashy, it never was. It was simple with black shorts hugging her hips; a black tank top and a denim vest that fitted around her torso perfectly with cute little buttons on the collar, matched with the same white converse that I never see leave her feet.
Last night was more than I expected. I planned everything up to ‘Let’s be unpredictable’ and even that wasn’t planned. I quoted my own song and I slapped myself because the words seemed to just fall out of my mouth.
“How’s this?” I heard Michael say. I looked to Shannon and Michael when I finally realised I was staring at the wall.
“Perfect” she smiled.
“The sides are a little low” he pointed out, “Yeah see, it’s a unisex shirt so when girls buy it they either just use their bikini under it like one of the other girls will be today or they can wear a patterned thing that they can just put over their bras, but you look great” she said patting him on the shoulder. When she talks about her clothes she loves going into detail and I love it when she does. She gets so excited and so passionate about it, like the guys and I do when we talk about music specifically our music.
“Aren’t you modelling anymore?” I heard a voice ask.
I turned to see Kennedy in the same shirt as Michael’s, “Yeah I am” I answered with a smile.
She sat beside me as silence played out between us “How are you?” she asked.
I nodded to her “I’m good, how about you?” she nodded with the same response to me.
I looked forward to see Shannon looking at me like I needed help before she turned around, I sighed to myself as awkward filled the air.
When suddenly fabric hit my face causing me to look up once again. Shannon was smiling before she nodded towards the dressing rooms, “Get dressed you lazy butt” she smirked. I smiled back just before Kennedy excused herself. I walked over to Shannon and pulled her close to me before whispering ‘thank you’ in her ear and kissing her cheek.
She pulled away quickly as Calum came over. I watched a little longer observing her instincts to fix up Calum’s hair and shirt.
I want to tell her how I feel about her; I want to know how I feel about her. But I can’t do one without the other.
