“Here you go have a nice day” I smiled as yet another satisfied customer walked out with one of my favourite creations.

Today felt like a good day.

The sun was out, the temperature was perfect and there was no drama whatsoever. ‘Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket’ I thought to myself. Aunty always use to buy one on days like this, she called it a ‘full moon day’ because of how everything was complete, how the weather, the temperature, the events and her emotions tied into one perfect circle. I often questioned if she was a hippie in a past life.

I heard my phone ring, but before I could even greet the other person on the other end all I heard was ‘ASDFGIJKLHKDLKHLS’.

“Hello…?” I finally said once everything seemed to calm down.

“Hey Shannon” Luke’s voice sang.

I smiled at the sound of his happy voice, “Hey, how are you?” I asked.

“I’m great, yourself?” I continued to smile picturing his shy smile that seems to have imprinted in my memory.

“I’m really good” he continued the general conversation before he asked if he could drop by the store with the rest of the boys, “You know you don’t have to ask, right?”

“But it’s an appropriate thing to do!” he replied, “Oh yeah, because you boys are all about appropriate…” I chuckled.

“Was that a joke? Was that meant to be a joke?” I heard him say with a hint of sarcasm.

“Tell you what blondie, you figure it out and you can come into the store” I heard his laugh before I hung up. His laugh always made me happy, his smile made me happy, he makes me happy; they make me happy.

So, so happy.

It’s their music and their sense of humour and the way they present themselves as perfectly imperfect with their flawless smiles and amazing talent. I don’t think I’ve ever been so influenced by the band before.

I turned up the volume of the radio as one of my favourite songs came on the store iPod. No one was in the store and it was just me and Derek, so I call a ‘in store party’. Derek began using racks as poles being stupid as I began to belt out the chorus “Feeling like it’s my birthday, like Christmas day came early just I want so when we move you move.” I laughed at how serious he was being about the dance moves, “Get your back off the wall, don’t you get comfortable!” I swayed to the music as I spun around, to see the boys entering the store laughing. “Whoa, you know that I’ve been waiting for you!” Derek belted out as we continued dancing. I saw Calum shrug before he joined in with his ridiculous hip thrusts mixed in with some pretty good boy band dance material, and Michael attempting to copy him. But what I loved most is that Luke came over and began dancing next to me, his moves are the worst but most adorable, awkward thing I have ever seen. The song ended and Derek high fived me as I brushed my hair out of my face. Laughter erupted from everyone before I introduced them all to Derek, “Oh, the ‘best employee’ guy” Luke said before shaking his hand. I nodded as Derek shot me a weird look, I shrugged.

“Oh my god! Guys I have something to show you!” I said excitedly as I rushed behind the counter. I lifted up one of the boxes I brought in last night and placed a pair of shoes on top of the counter, they all looked at me strange.

“A pair of imitation converse?” Michael asked, I rolled my eyes as I turned the shoe to show the side of it before they all started freaking out.

“You put our logo on a pair of shoes!” Ashton yelled as he grabbed the left shoe.

“And they go on sale in two days” I smiled. “Pick out your sizes” I smiled as I pushed the box towards them a little, they all towered over the box as they fiddled through them all to find their sizes. “They only come in black right now but I’ll see if I can get them in other colours” suddenly Calum dropped to the ground and began changing into them.

“They're so sick!” Luke gushed. I smiled as he seemed amazed at the fact that their logo was on a simple creation, but I suppose it would be a huge honour and their all so grateful for the smallest things.

“There so comfy” Calum said as he jumped up and down looking down at his feet, I laughed before getting my camera.

“While you’re in them, do you mind if I take a couple photos of the shoes for the website?” he jumped to the oppournity before I could even get the back drop set up.

*Luke’s P.O.V*

“These are amazing!” I heard Ashton say, literally drooling over the shoes. I think it’s just as amazing that Shannon did this. It was our logo on the side of shoes and along the white bit at the bottom it said ‘derping since 2011’. She went above and beyond for these shoes and our line.

“Calum stand here” she said positioning him in front of a white back drop. He stood to the side as she positioned herself on the ground the get the shot of the shoes. “Derek, I need a little more light please” she asked. It’s insane how she can go from playfully dancing with us, to being completely ecstatic about a creation, then turning into a professional in almost 5 minutes.

I watched on with the boys “Work those legs Calum!” Ashton called out, I heard her giggle from behind the camera causing me to smile. I liked the sound of her laugh, I liked the look of her laughing, and it was so… genuine. Her gaze turned to mine as she smiled, I felt my heart flip.

“Hey, Ashton…” she gestured him forward as he walked over, she handed him the camera before having a little conversation with him. I continued to watch as she guided him through the frame shots and the correct angels.

“Why are you going out with Kennedy?” I heard Michael say, I turned and looked at him with hesitation attached to my answer.

“I thought it would be nice to get to know her” I turned back to see Shannon fixing Calum’s feet then jumping back behind Ashton, She turned and looked at us before telling us to come over.

“There’s one person you want to go out with, and we all know that that person isn’t Kennedy” he whispered before walking off in front of me.

He's right, I'm going out with the wrong girl.
