My team and trained hard on the day before the Vytal Festival. We perfected our team attacks and coordination. We finished training and decided to take a break, heading to the library to wind down. I decided to finish reading Till Death Do Us Part while Ezra and Zayne arm wrestled on the table next to me. Yuuto stood next to the table and was practicing his control of his aura. I finished the book and put it down. I stood up and stretched, noticing that team RWBY didn't sit that far away from us. "Hey, how about we go spar with another team?" I asked. "I don't know, I don't really feel like it.." said Ezra. "Come on!" I pleaded, "This is the perfect time to show off our moves!" She rolled her eyes. "Okay, I'm in." Zayne slammed Ezra's hand into the table and stood up. "I'm in too." I glanced at Yuuto. He simply nodded and opened his eyes. We walked over to where Ruby and her friends were sitting. It looked like they were playing a card game of some sorts. "Heyo!" said Yang, leaning back in her chair, her feet propped up on the table. Ruby and Blake waved and Weiss stood up and gave me a hug. My face immediately went red. "It's so nice to see you walking again!" she exclaimed. I could hear Ezra and Zayne snickering behind me. "Someone's got a crush..." whispered Zayne. I shot him a look and he stopped whispering and stuck his tongue out at me. "So I was thinking, how about we have a sparring match before the festival tomorrow?" I asked. Yang leaped to her feet. "Sounds great!" she exclaimed. "How 'bout it guys?" she asked her team. "Yeah let's do it!" said Ruby. "Sure, I'm in," said Blake. Weiss smiled. "See you at the arena," she said. I grinned. "Well it's settled then!" exclaimed Zayne. "Team RYZE vs. team RWBY!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all gathered on the arena, facing each other. I ran the idea by Ozpin and he thought it was a great idea before the festival. "Just don't hurt each other too much," he warned. I was wearing my white aura armor with my helmet locked in place. Zayne wore his leather jacket and jeans while Ezra wore her ninja gi and Yuuto wore his vest. We all stood at the ready. "The time is set for 10 minutes." the arena announced. "3,2,1...FIGHT!!!" I rushed at Yang, knowing she was probably the heaviest hitter of the team. Ezra attacked Weiss while Zayne took care of Blake. Yuuto waited in place and made Ruby come after him. I decided to focus on my opponent. I knew better than to draw my swords because Yang could easily rip them out of my hands, disarming me. I dodged and countered her blasts from Ember Celica. I got in close and got four punches on her midsection and arms. She grabbed my arm and punched me in the face, sending me flying across the arena. "She really hits hard!" I thought. "Having trouble over there?" called Zayne as he threw a punch at Blake. I didn't answer and ran back at Yang. I concentrated my aura into my fists, allowing me to hit just a little harder. I ducked under her swing and pummeled her stomach with a series of punches. I ducked under her arms again, appearing behind her. I kicked her legs out from under her and grabbed her arms. I threw her into the air and quickly drew my swords and assembled them into a sniper rifle. I fired off four shots in succession, two missing her. The rest slammed into her arms. "Gotcha!" I thought. "Now she can't use her arms." I sheathed my swords and waited for her to come down. Yang's hair suddenly burst into flames. "AHHHHH!!!" she yelled. She fired behind her, launching herself at me at breakneck speed. I leaped backwards to avoid the hit. She slammed into the ground and created a crater. Dust billowed everywhere. "I can't see a thing!" I said. She leaped out the dust and attacked my head and my mid section with a furious assault of punches. "I'm not gonna last long like this!" I thought. I managed to pull away from her and tap her on the shoulder, copying her semblance. "That's all I needed!" I thought excitedly. "This is going to change the tide of the battle!" I took a defensive stance, my arms covering my face and midsection. Yang leaped at me again, punching and kicking. An alert appeared on my HUD in my helmet, informing me my aura had reached its peak again. "Time to test it out," I thought. I unleashed the aura that had built up from the attacks I took. "AHHHHH!!!!!" I yelled, power running through my entire body. My aura flared up around me, glowing red. It was now my turn to attack. I rushed at Yang and attacked her already damaged arms. I was slowly pushing her back, so I kept up the assault, not giving her a chance to retaliate. As we neared the edge of the arena, I kicked her feet from under her and caught her. I lifted her over my head and threw her out the ring. A buzzer sounded, signaling she was out!
I turned my attention to how the rest of the team was faring. Everyone else was holding their own except for Zayne. Blake danced around him, never letting him have a chance to hit her. "Hold still dammit!" he yelled. I could tell he was exhausted. Blake was just wearing him down until he ran out of stamina, which meant she could attack him all she wants. The power rush I felt before was now gone, so was the semblance I borrowed. I had to play it safe once more. I ran towards Zayne to assist him but ice enveloped my legs. "Not so fast," Weiss said. I looked over and saw Weiss walking towards me, a smile on her face. I looked behind her and saw she had frozen Ezra in a block of ice. I looked at the scoreboard and saw Ezra was only immobilized, not eliminated yet. "I just have to get to her," I thought. I punched the ice at my legs and faced Weiss. I drew both my swords and combined them. The newly formed sword activated and glowed purple. I sprinted Weiss and slashed at her. She blocked with a glyph and stabbed at me. I parried and tried to disarm her. She blocked with another glyph and jumped over it, landing behind me. I turned to slash at her, but a memory of her appeared in my mind and I hesitated. That was all Weiss needed. A series of glyphs appeared around me. She leaped from one to the other slashing me as she went past. Alarms went up around my armor. I knew I couldn't take anymore hits so I unleashed my aura once again, forming a barrier around me. Weiss bounced off another glyph and flew straight into my barrier. "Owww!" she complained. "Sorry 'bout that," I said. I turned and threw my sword at Ezra, shattering the ice and freeing her. "About time!!!" she roared. She leaped at Weiss and continued their fight. I retrieved my sword and ran back to Zayne. He was lying on the ground, breathing hard. "Having trouble?" I asked, holding out my hand. "Shut up," he muttered, taking my hand. We looked at each other. "Team attack!" we both exclaimed. I took my sword and held it over my shoulder. Zayne jumped and landed on the flat of the blade. "GO!!" I yelled. I launched him into the air. He flew up and put all of his inertia into his fist, using his semblance. He rocketed back towards Blake and the ground. He slammed down in front of her, sending her flying into the sky. I transformed my sword back into a sniper rifle and shot twice at Blake. She dodged both of them and shot me in the chest with her gun. I stumbled backwards and tripped on a loose rock, falling on my back. Zayne got up out of the rubble to see Blake holding her blade against his throat. "TIME!!!!" announced the arena. We all stopped where we were. "DRAW!!!" We all helped each other up and sheathed our weapons, dusting ourselves off.
"Now I definitely can't wait for the tournament tomorrow!" Yang said. We all exited the arena, heading to our respective dorm rooms. "See you guys tomorrow!" Ruby said. I waved. "Good luck!" said Ezra. Zayne gave me a fist bump. "Let's win it tomorrow!" he said. I nodded my head. "Right!" I looked at the sun, watching it disappear behind the horizon, not knowing what tomorrow had planned for us, but looking forward to it.
