I awoke in a bed, opening my eyes to see a ceiling fan, spinning slowly with the sun shining through a crack in the curtains. I got out of bed and stretched. I suddenly remembered the fight, the fire...and Yang. I checked myself out and noticed I only had my old scars and no other injuries. I looked over at the bed and was shocked that there was another lump on the bed. I stood still. "Where am I?" I thought. "Who's house is this?" I started to leave the bedroom when I heard a voice call me. "You're up early Ryan." I looked behind me to see Yang in bed, perfectly fine, except for the bedhead. "You going to make breakfast today?" she asked. I blinked. "Make....breakfast...?" I asked. She looked at me funny. "Yeah, you cook every Thursday and Fridays," she replied. She slid out of bed and walked to where I was. I tentatively, not sure where this was heading. She leaned forward and gave me a peck on the lips. "I'm going to wake up Evelyn," she said. "Who's Evelyn?" I thought. I followed her as she walked out of the room. I emerged out into what seemed like a living room, a TV surrounded with sofas and a coffee table in the middle. I walked over to the kitchen, located behind the sofas next to a humongous window. I walked up to the window and looked out. I was greeted by the sun, shining out from behind the horizon, illuminating the seaside. I turned and headed for the kitchen. An island was in the middle, with a stove to it's right and the refrigerator directly in front it. "Guess I better make breakfast then," I thought. I opened the refrigerator and took out three eggs. I put them aside, heated up the stove and grabbed a pan. All of a sudden, a little girl with Yang's hair appeared out of nowhere. "DADDY!" she yelled. She ran straight into my legs and hugged them. "Good morning!" she yelled. "Daddy?" I thought. "She couldn't be more than 5 years old." I looked at Yang, who was watching us with a smile on her face. Everything then made sense. I looked down at the little girl. "Good morning Evelyn," I said. She beamed at me and went to sit at the breakfast table. I then realized where I was. The future. I shook my head and chuckled. "No way, not possible," I thought. I cracked the eggs into the pan and put it on the burner to cook. I watched as Yang tried to braid a squirming Evelyn's hair. I put the finished eggs on three separate plates and brought them to the table. "Breakfast is served!" I announced. Evelyn grabbed her fork and pulled the egg into her mouth. "Slow down sweetie!" chided Yang. I laughed and did the same to my egg. "Oh, you two never change!" complained Yang. Evelyn and I both laughed even harder at this.

Later...
I looked up in the mirror in the bathroom and saw I had aged. I now looked at least in my mid thirties. I hadn't changed much except for the fact I was now a whole head taller than Yang. This confirmed my suspicions. I looked over at Yang, who was putting on her gauntlets. "Ready to get to work?" she asked. I nodded. Her outfit had changed since I last remembered. She now wore a black biker jacket with a yellow undershirt underneath and black leather pants. I had quickly learned that Yang and I were graduates from Beacon Academy, taking on job requests involving Grimm. We were now Huntsman and Huntresses, just like our dream. I zipped up my leather jacket and nodded my head. "Evelyn at school?" I asked. Yang laughed at me. "She's five!" she exclaimed. I smacked my forehead. "Daycare then?" I asked. She nodded her head. She handed me a sheet of paper detailing our latest mission. "Clearing out an abandoned building?" I asked. She nodded. "I scoped out the place and it looks quite dangerous," she explained. "The Grimm are mostly on the 1st and 2nd floors, but more might be spread out in the building." I ran my hand through my hair. "We'll be fighting close quarters then?" I asked. She smiled and nodded. "Our specialty," she replied. "Let's get to work then," I said.

We arrived at the building late in the afternoon. It was quite remote, located on the outskirts of Vacuo. It took almost all day to arrive at our destination. Yang and I jumped out of our transports and headed for the building. I unsheathed my dual swords, feeling uneasy. "You feel it too?" Yang asked. "The evil energy that surrounds the place? Yeah, I do," I replied. Yang cocked Ember Celica and we entered the building. The second we stepped foot inside, five Beowolves revealed themselves to us, growling darkly. We rushed the Beowolves, with Yang blasting them into the air while I cut them up. We cleared out the first floor in no time. I cracked my neck. "That made for a good warm up," I said. Yang reloaded her gauntlets. "Yeah, but don't get too cocky," she warned. We moved up to the next floor, scanning the darkness, trying not to let the Grimm have the jump on us. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. "Move!" I yelled. A Beowolf claw swung at us. I ducked under it while Yang leaped up and over. I tried to slice off its arm but it parried my stroke. "It parried....?" I thought. I rolled to the side to avoid its attack. Yang was firing off blasts at the alpha Beowolf when it struck her with the back of its hand, sending her flying into a concrete wall. "YANG!" I yelled. She pulled herself out of the wall and fell on the ground. "I'm fine!" she replied. I ducked under another one of the Beowolf's swings and leaped onto its arm. I ran towards its head and swung my blade. The Grimm caught my blade in its mouth and pulled it from my grasp. It grabbed me with its other arm and slammed me into the ground. It then stomped on me until I burst through the ground and fell to the floor below. "RYAN!" screamed Yang. I struggled to get up as the Beowolf landed on me. It grabbed me by the head and threw me into the nearest wall. I fell on my knees and chuckled.
I started to laugh as red started to enter my vision. "You...are going to die a very, very, painful death," I promised. I stood up and released my aura around me, glowing a crimson red. I drew my other sword and rushed the Beowolf. I rolled in between its legs and leaped to my feet. I turned and sliced one of its arms off. The Alpha howled in pain. I rammed my sword through it chest and left it there. I backed up and leaped onto the hilt of my sword. I grabbed the Beowolf's head with my hands and swung around its neck, spinning its head a full 360 degrees, snapping its neck. I landed on my feet and shook my head, trying to clear the red from my vision. It faded and I turned towards Yang. "Job well done eh?" I asked. She looked at me in disbelief. "How are you alive after that?" she asked incredulously. I shrugged. "My aura and semblances helped, I guess." I looked her in the eyes. "Anything wrong?" I asked. She shook her head. "No, I'll just call the transport and we'll head home," she said. I nodded and looked back at the building. "Even I'm not sure how I lived through that," I thought. I shrugged and ran to catch up to Yang.

At Home...
I turned off the TV and rubbed my eyes. After Yang and I got paid by our employer we picked up Evelyn and returned home. I cooked dinner (pizza) and put Evelyn to bed. I looked at the clock and it informed me it was 9:45. I stood up and went into the bedroom. Yang was already asleep, her breathing steady and oddly calming. I slid into bed next to her and turned out the light. I could still see her golden hair with the help of the moonlight that shone through the curtains. I looked at her beautiful face, so calm and peaceful. I turned onto my back and looked at the ceiling. "I have a wonderful life," I thought. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
