I opened my eyes, sat up and yawned. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Weiss sleeping on a chair next to me. It took all of my will power to not stare at her angelic face and kiss her. I slightly shifted my weight to give her more space. I grabbed my blanket and tossed it over her. "How peaceful," I thought. The peace was interrupted as someone kicked down the door to my room. I must have jumped a foot in the air. Weiss, however, was not disturbed. "RYAN!" yelled Nora. "I BROUGHT YOU BREAKFAST!!!" She pranced around the room holding two plastic bags. I waved my hands to quiet her down and pointed at Weiss. She stopped prancing and nodded in understanding. She tiptoed over and handed me the bags and whispered, "They're from Ren." She turned and bolted out the door without another word. I looked into the bags and saw a huge stack of pancakes in each. I sighed and saw a note sticking out of a pancake. "Get Better!" it said. It was signed by everyone, with Nora's signature being the biggest and messiest. I chuckled quietly to myself. Weiss started to stir and sat up. "What time is it?" she asked groggily. "Breakfast time," I replied, handing her a stack of pancakes. She pulled over a nearby table and accepted the pancakes. "From Ren?" she asked. I nodded, my mouth too full to respond. "Man am I hungry!" I thought. I wolfed down my breakfast and sat back, stuffed. All of a sudden she said, "Oh I'm so sorry!" I looked over and saw she had accidently crushed my leg against the bed. "It's all right," I said, "I didn't feel it."
A sudden realization hit me. "Weiss," I said. She looked up from her food. "Yes?" she asked. "Touch my leg," I said. She gave me a weird look. "Please just do it!" I said more urgently. She slowly reached over and touched my leg. "I don't feel it," I whispered. She looked at me with shock in her eyes. "Are you sure?" she asked. I nodded. "She grabbed the phone and called a nurse. "Yes? Hello?" she said, "Yes, I need help in room number 67." She nodded. "Yes it concerns the patient. Okay. Thank you." She hung up the phone and turned towards me. "They're on the way." I wasn't really listening because a thousands thoughts were flying around in my mind. "All right," I murmured. She walked over and sat next to me on the bed. "Are you going to be okay?" she asked. "I'm not sure if I was ever okay," I answered stiffly. The doctor came in and Weiss got off the bed and left the room with a backwards glance and wave. The doctor looked at my legs and performed numerous tests. "Give it to me straight Doc," I said. He looked at me with a grave look on his face. "Well the bottom line is you'll never walk again." He looked at my face for a reaction, I gave him none. He looked through his papers. "Well besides your paralysis, you're all good to go!" he said. The doctor stood up and shook my hand. "I'll get you a wheelchair and you can go." He headed for the door. He stopped and turned. "I am very sorry young man. You seemed to have had a promising future." He walked out into the hallway and shut the door. I put my face in my hands. "I can't ever walk again?" I thought. I punched the wall and made a hole. "Being a Huntsman was the only meaning in my life!" I growled.
"No it's not," said a voice. I looked over and saw my mother sitting next to me. "You said I could never summon you using my semblance!" I exclaimed. She shook her head. "You didn't summon me sweetie. I came to visit you on my own free will." She stood up and looked me up and down. "You're too strong to be held down by something like this," she said, "Besides, what about that girl you were mooning over a few minutes ago?" I looked down at my hands, my face red with embarrassment. "Then what should I do?" I asked. She laughed. "God was it good to hear her laugh again" I thought. "I can't tell you everything!" she said. She leaned close to my face and kissed me on the forehead. "Remember, you can always ask for help," she said. She started to fade away. "Wait don't go!" I said. She disappeared completely. I thought about what she told me. Suddenly it hit me. "Of course!" I exclaimed. My career as a Huntsman might be saved after all! I couldn't wait for the doctor to come back and tell Weiss the news.

The doctor wheeled me out to the waiting area where Team RWBY was. "Where'd Jaune and the others go?" I asked. "They had an assignment," replied Blake. I nodded. "So you can't walk ever again?" asked Ruby anxiously. I grinned. "For now.." I answered. "What do you mean?" asked Weiss hopefully. "You'll see..." I said, "But first we need a transport to get us to Atlas." "What for?" asked Yang. I turned the wheelchair so I faced all of them. "Because it's about time I visited my Father," I replied.
