It's been hectic since I had Jessica. The nurses still have not said a word to me about my son that would give me closure as to what happened. Raymond was restless but enjoying his time with Jessica. The nurse came to take out the IV and help me out of bed just the very next morning after having her.
The bathroom was my first stop so I could shower. The nurse and Raymond helped me bath and into a fresh gown. I hurt all over. But in order to heal and be allowed to leave was that I get up and get moving.
The nurse gave me a dose of pain meds and out walking I went down the labor and delivery ward. Slow but steady I made my two required laps down the ward and back. Raymond or a nurse by my side at all times. Jessica would be coming down from the neonatal icu soon to see me now that she was breathing better.
I hurried the last lap cause I saw Jessica coming to my room. Raymond was there before me and was holding her. I stopped just short of the door and watched and listened he was crying tears of happiness. He talked to her like she could talk back. He vowed to always protect her and be there for her no matter what. He closed with a sweet kiss to her forehead and called her daddy's little pumpkin head. Jessica was jaundiced when she was born, she looked so orange like a little pumpkin.
My depression hit hard. I walked in further and got back in bed. Raymond brought her to me and I cried holding her. The doctor was making his morning rounds and stopped in to check on me. I begged the doctor not to send me home just yet. Raymond put Jessica in her bassinet and went down stairs to go eat a decent breakfast. The doctor was checking my staples and the insicion where he had cut me. I began to cry and beg the doctor to tell me what happened to my son. What caused him to parish so early in my wound.
The doctor explained to me that Jessica and my son shared the same food supply and she fed off him and took all nutrients needed for both to survive. It's called twin to twin transfusion. He hugged me and let me cry a few minutes and gave his condolences to me. He left to finish his rounds.
I called for the nurse to help me with Jessica since Raymond hadn't returned from his breakfast venture. She came in and helped me change Jessica and also helped me to the bathroom. She asked if I needed more pain meds and I eagerly accepted since I felt like my insides were on fire.
Everyone knew that I didn't want visitors at the hospital and for them to wait til we were home to visit. I wanted my privacy. Raymond had a fellow friend who apparently didn't get the message because he showed up right before Raymond got back from breakfast. Swartz was his last name and he was a pain. At times he was nice.
He knocked and I said come in. He handed me flowers and a gift bag. How nice it was but I was a little upset he apparently didn't get the message no visitors til we were home. Raymond walked in surprised to see Swartz. They exchanged greetings and Raymond took Jessica from me to burp. Raymond and Swartz chatted while I rested since the pain meds kicked in. When I woke Swartz was gone.
