Katherine

So, after a time with my boys, the little ones of my new family, they started taking me to some of their street dance performances. Some of their little shows, to introduce me to their 'business', how they like to call it. I actually really liked it! It was so special to see that even poor children enjoy their passion. It was new for me. America isn't one of the poor countries.

So, soon they started to show me some of their moves. After like an half year I even started to prepare dances with them. One day, I was watching one of their performances when many people stood around. I prepared that dance with them. And then, Cale pulled me in the middle of the crowd and demanded me to dance with them.

'Sayaw!' they said in a few times in a row, which means 'dance!' in English. Soon, people joined them and so I had no choice. When I had this performance done, I noticed that I actually really enjoyed it.

Okay so, I started joining more performances soon. Everything just felt like they're my real little brothers. Joey, Nick and Christian. Was it wrong to feel like that?

When I turned into 'business' more and more, I kinda fell back to the old times. It hurt! I tried to stay away for a bit just to overcome my fall back... But it didn't work. I won't overcome my past. My head and my heart won't be able to overcome my family. It won't allow me to come to the new chapter.

Well, soon Hanna asked me what happened to the Katherine she got to know. She wondered why I stayed in the recent days and stopped dancing.

'What's wrong?' she asked and came up to me.

'Nothing. It's just that I fell back when I started taking the business part. Dancing is amazing but it really reminds me on my... Sisters and the boys especially on my little brothers..' I said and started crying. Hanna took me into her arms and told me that it was okay.

'Thank you so much...' I whispered through the tears.

She helped me alot and already the next day I went back outside. Before the next performance, I told people about what happened. Not all. Just some memory.

'... In honor of my sisters... This is for Christina, Lisa, Amy, Lauren and Dani.' I said and started singing the Chorus of Wings.

'..when we fly we fly together.' I finished and stepped a step back. I had tears in my eyes and wiped them away and smiled through the tears. I looked up to the sky.

'And forever...' I added.

'I know you're somewhere there. I know it.' I whispered. Yes, I didn't know if they're alive and prayed that they would. People started cheering up and the next moment, Cale, Sammy and Luomi ran upt to me and hugged me. They didn't understand what I said, because they didn't speak english. You probably ask how the other people could understand me, because they speak Filipino/Tagalog on the Philippines, but lots of the people spoke English as well. Not perfect, but as well that you could understand them and that they could understand you.

When they stopped hugging me, I felt a little more confident by that minute.

'Okay boys, gawin natin ito.' (Let's do this.) I told them. I was glad to know some stuff in Filipino.

We started dancing our choreography and I don't know, the boys were different. After we finsihed, the boys started running around and did ssomething like a shout of victory (like always), and then they started hopping on my back. We started laughing and I looked at the sky one more time. At this point, I kinda accepted my new life. It felt like someone of my family gave me the right to do it.
