Part 4: It's like Sugar and Spice

Well, Lauren got there with her boyfriend Haku. He said he didn't want to leave her alone. He didn't want her to be hurt. Such a cute guy to be honest. I was really for them. They were a cute couple. Well, so, Haku helped us with our search. He suggested to send out public call outs to all the 6 countries survivors were brought to. He became more and more sympathetic to me, haha. But yes, back to the topic. We sent these out and hoped to get any clue. Two people actually answered. A guy from the Philippines sent an email and a girl from Japan called, but none of them were Christina, Amy or Dani. We didn't give up and just waited. But in the end, nobody replied until four months passed. It was a woman who finally sent us an email and gave us an actual clue.

Mail:

"Hello, my name is Hoa-Xi. I'm mailing because of the callout you sent. I'm taking care of a girl who was involved in the Tsunami 2014. I hope we can get in contact soon. Greetings from China. -Hoa Xi

PS: Call me here: +86 6547 986 21"

Of course we got in contact with her as soon as we read the mail. Lauren's fear - phone calls. So, this time she stayed in the background.

Phone call:

Katherine: "Hello, I'm Katherine. I'm calling from the Philippines. It's the person who sent the callout. I'm glad you mailed us."

Katherine, Lauren and I were shaking. Lauren held Haku's hand.There was a terrible silence for a moment.

Hoa: "Good afternoon, I'm glad we got in contact. Dani is healthy and well."

As soon as we heard the name Dani, I jumped up and started crying. Since Hoa only knew we called out for survivors, she didn't know that we were looking for Dani.

Katherine: "Oh my gosh! You.. you found Dani?? You found our sister??" she sobbed through the phone.

Hoa: "You are her sister?? She's talking about her sisters all day."

Hoa had a really soft and young voice. She sounded like 30 or younger. And she sounded really insecure too, and we could understand that really well. I don't think I would've reacted differently if a person from another country calls me not knowing each other and asking for the girl I take care of. So we asked if it would be better if we do a video chat first.

Katherine: "Um, if it's better, we can have a video chat without Dani first."

Hoa: "That would be great. Does it work for you right now? I know, it's really sudden, but I'm at work later and Dani is at school right now."

Lauren and I held hands and were so excited when we heard that we would get to see the woman who saved Dani in the next moment.

Katherine: "It would be great right now."

Katherine sobbed and started a video call 5 minutes later. We had to swallow. We didn't know what kind of woman would be in front of us.

Video call:

Hoa: "Hello!"

Haku: "Sorry? We can't see you.."

Hoa: "Oh sorry, my mistake. I forgot to turn on the camera. I'm having alot of stress recently."

After we finally got to see her, Katherine and I waved without any word because we were crying a little bit.

Hoa: "Wow, this is so weird. Dani always talks about you and it has been so hard for her... and now, after 4 years, we sit here."
