I can still hear the sound of trees,
The branches snapping under foot,
Still hear the birds chirping,
Eyes as black as fire place soot.
I wouldn't have left if I didn't have to,
This is just something I want you to know,
Because before it all changed that day,
I would have followed wherever you go.
This isn't a poem for forgiveness,
I know it's too late for that,
I know now that you've moved on,
No you'd never want me back.
I just want you to know that I'm headstrong,
That I'm scared, quiet, insecure,
I just couldn't resist the dark side,
I was pulled in by its foreboding, it's lure.
But I want to be the girl you match people to,
The girl you consider as your forever best friend,
But no I'm not delusional,
I realised one day the fantasy had to end.
So I wish you forever happiness,
That you are what you wanted to be,
And I know it's better for both of us,
If I let you go, forget me.
