You were a distant memory,
You were no longer real,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough for the scars to heal.
You were years ago,
You were something to look back,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough to stop the attack.
You were ages away,
You live a completely different world to me,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough to stop the horrific melody.
You were long gone,
You never spoke a word in my direction,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough to soothe the imperfections.
You were just a reminder,
You were something I did wrong,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough to forget the song.
You were another blank soldier,
You were something I rarely thought about,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough to stop the shouts.
You were just another girl,
You were different, you had changed,
You had stayed away long enough,
Long enough that the pain was there seeing you today.
