Harleen
I shut the door behind me, sighing softly. My heart beat steadily in my chest, and I shut my eyes, a small smile transforming my lips as I remembered the scene from earlier today.
I didn't talk to Selina or Pam about Jack afterwards, and they hadn't tried to strike up a conversation about him after that. I didn't see him for the rest of the day, which was strange, but I shook it off. The school had many students anyways, he was probably just lost in the crowd. Yeah...
As soon as I walked into my room, dumping my bag on the floor and kicking off my shoes, my phone rang. I ignored it, taking out my hair and gathering my pajamas so I could go get in the shower and forget my worries.
But the phone just kept on ringing. And ringing. And ringing.
Eventually, I had enough, and turned to it, snatching it up off my bed, where I had thrown it. I answered it without looking at the caller ID, scowling.
"What?" I snapped, shifting my weight onto one leg as I placed one hand on my hip.
"Harls~" came a singsong voice, and I sighed.
"Hey, Pam, what's up?" I asked tentatively. Why would she be calling me right after school got out? Turning back around, I gathered my clothes in my arms.
"Ohh, nothing much, I was just wondering if you wanted to come over." I could hear the smirk on her face, and opened the bathroom door, rolling my baby blue eyes.
"Why should I? I just got home." I protested, staring into the mirror as I waited for an answer.
"Not today, silly! This Saturday, I want you to meet a couple of people, get out there, ya know?" She replied casually. I wasn't convinced.
"Is that so? Who's going?" I asked, my eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"Oh, just some boys, Johnny and Eddie, friends of mine." Pam assures smoothly, but then a slight edge came to her tone, trying to sound innocent. "But I had to invite their little friends too, to get them to agree to come. And you know what they say, the more the merrier." She added sweetly as I bent over to turn on the shower.
"And who are these so called friends?" I huffed. Why was she being so evasive?
"Oh, nobody. Just this hunk, Harvey Dent, and a little someone called Jack Napier." Ooooohh, I knew it! That little- I thought she had dropped the subject!
"Oh no, you don't! Don't think you can convince me! I- I don't have a crush on him, and I'm not gonna go over so you can have your fun laughing at me, and- and-!" I growled, scrambling for a better excuse not to go.
"Whoa, whoa, slow down, Harls. I'm not inviting him for you, he's just one of their friends." She defended quickly, and even through the phone I could tell she was wearing a smile. "Besides, if you didn't like him, why are you trying to find an excuse not to come?" I spluttered at that, blinking rapidly. Damn it.
"I don't like him, Pam. He's a weird creep, and he gives off total popular jerk vibes." I shot at her curtly, but she responded with a sharp tone.
"Whatevs! You're coming. It's already planned out, my house at 10:30 am, Saturday. Be there or so help me, Harls.." I felt heat rush to my face, and I clenched my fists at my side, my mouth opening to fire something back.
