Chapter 24: Slap

Harley's P.O.V:

I ran out of the bathroom and locked it, not even hesitating.

I ran to the left, back to the cafeteria. And I almost ran straight into Joker. He was leaning against the wall. I styled back and fell on my butt. He didn't look at me.

"I'm so sorry, Puddin! I didn't- I didn't see you there!" I said hastily.

He finally looked down at me. He studied my face. "Why are you crying?"

"Huh?" I said stupidly. I reached up to feel my face. He's right. I studied my tear.

"I said, why are you crying instead of smiling? Your not supposed to be crying!" he growled. I got up off the floor, my eyes never leaving his. I smiled weakly.

"I- I'm sorry, Puddin. I'll st-" but I got cut off when he sent me flying back onto the floor again. This time I hit my head on the wall. I looked up at him. He had slapped me! Why did he do that?!

"P-Puddin...?" I started.

"P-Puddin?" he mimicked me in a horrible, teasing tone. I started to cry harder, the tears streaming silently down my cheeks, I cupped the cheek he had slapped. I was sure it was bright pink. I got up again, slowly this time.

"Stop crying!" and his hand twitched. I flinched, my eyes closed and one hand up to defend myself. I did this all instinctively. He grabbed my arm and pulled it down. He was glaring at me.

"Smile." he ordered me.

I don't know why I did. I like to think it was because I wanted to. But what I felt... I felt scared. I felt scared if my Puddin. But I knew the only reason I was scared is because I didn't answer him. It was my fault he slapped me. I need to be more obedient. In other words I need to be more loyal.

As I thought of this I sighed in happiness. I'll show him I'm loyal! I'll do whatever he wants me to do! I'll make him proud to call me his!
