Harleen

"Hey." The boy replied smoothly, his gaze wandering my face with his beautiful eyes. His gaze roamed for a second too long, and I felt my face heat up once more, becoming embarrassed under his eyes.

We locked gazes, and he started to speak again. "I was wondering if..." I never did find out what he was wondering, because I may or may have not been spacing out. His voice was on the deep side, although maybe not like Morgan Freeman deep, and just a tiny bit raspy. I felt myself slip into la la land, and only broke out of it when a pale hand waved across my face. "Be careful, don't wanna fall too fast, sweets." Is what I tuned back into, and I leaned back quickly, flustered.

"I- I wasn't- what was it that you wanted-?" I stumbled over my words, and he just chuckled, shaking his head before turning back to the teacher. Whaaaaaa....?

I spun back around in my chair and bit my cheek, squeezing my eyes shut and waiting for my face to cool. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Should've just listened to him, Harleen, instead of being a huge creep!

I sat like that for a couple of more moments, before letting out a breath and trying to pay attention to the lecture, but failing to do so. First day at school, and I already basically skipped the first lesson. Way to go me.

I heard that loud sound again, which was a combination of screeching and ringing, somehow, and knew it was the bell. I stood up, rapidly stuffing my notebook in my bag and rushing out the door before anyone even got out of their seats. I heard the echoing of laughter follow me, and somehow knew who it belonged to.

"It's gonna be a long day.." I groaned, burying my head in my hands as I headed towards Algebra 2.

*Cafeteria*

I walked swiftly out of my 3rd period class, as I had done with all my other classes, and followed the rush of students towards what I assumed what the cafeteria.

As soon as I stepped inside the large room, I was herded towards the lunch line, and snagged a tray. Turkey sandwiches or tuna sandwiches. I scrunched up my nose, holding back a gag. I hated fish.

As soon as I grabbed my turkey sandwich, I stood there, hesitating, looking for the only two familiar faces I knew.

On the down side, I didn't find them.

On the up side, they found me.

Well, more like Selina grabbed my arm and dragged me over to where Pam was sitting, and placed me down at the circular table. There was room for at least 5 more people, as it looked like it fit 8 average sized humans, but no one even spared a glance over at them. I didn't mind that, though, in fact, I couldn't care less.

As I bit into my sandwich, my gaze wandered across the cafeteria, and I almost choked when I spotted a certain green haired boy. I forced myself to gulp, and placed my food down, reaching over to my bottle of water.

Pam and Selina were sitting together across from me, but Selina was too busy eating her gross tuna sandwich to notice my pause. Pam, however, had settled for a plain salad they had for the side course, and had happened to be looking at me when that slight misfortune happened.

"You alright there, Harls?" She asked, and I payed no mind to the nickname, as I was trying to play cool.

I nodded quickly, putting on what was hopefully and convincing expression.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine...just..." I spared a quick glance over at the boy, and looked back at Pam, worried that she saw where she had been looking. "I'm fine, why?" She repeated, beaming a maybe too bright smile at her new friend.
